Classic & Vintage - Miyata "Sports Model"??

Anyone know anything about a Miyata "Sports Model?" There is no number designation. I can't find it in any of Nano's catalog scans. Chromed fork. Suntour stuff. I know that's a paltry amount of info, but it's all I could get. Any insight would be appreciated.

Miyata had an entire Sport series. Some of the higher end of the sport series, was not too bad. The lower end was borderline department store quality. Suntour stuff is meaningless, as Suntour made everything from bottom of the barrel, to high end, and everything in between.

Note, the better end of the series did not use the name "Sport" in the model designation. So I am going to guess this bike is more like the "Sport 10", which was very basic (steel crank, stem shifters, steel rims, claw derailleur hanger, steel seat post, etc.)

1985 Sport 10 came with Suntour 7 derailleurs.

Thank you, sir. I know I had almost zilch to go on, so I appreciate the effort. I'm going out on a limb and guessing this one must be 1970's, because I can't find any 80's ones with the chromed fork. Wish I knew more but the present owner isn't terribly forthcoming.

Many times a chrome fork = crash replacement. Post pics and someone will know.

In general, sport is code word for entry level. Many of the Japanese manufacturers had sport models.

Suntour parts always had date codes, so you can look them up.

It could aslo be one of the non-descript, boom era models. Can you get a serial number and/or pictures?

As I suspected, that's a mid-1970s model. It appears to be the STD-A or MX-S, depending on the exact year. If so, it should have a high tensile steel frame, Takagi aluminum cotterless crankset, Dia-Compe or Shimano centre-pull brakes and aluminum rims laced to aluminum quick release hubs. It would have sat on the cusp between entry and mid-range. That's a fair price if it is good condition.
