Southern California - Where to ride around Cerritos?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
The most I've ridden was 20 miles to and from Liberty Park to Seal Beach on Coyote Creek Trail. That ride was pretty much devoid of scenery so I'm looking for something a little longer and visually appealing.

Head north on the SGRT and do Turnbull Canyon. Why stop at Seal? Keep heading south on PCH and build your endurance from there. Head over to the PV peninsula for some really nice views.

There's already a thread on general wandering-around type riding, if that's what you're looking for. http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php/786536-Urban-paths Pick up the Franko's bike route maps. Also good, the LA Metro bike-route maps. And the Long Beach bike route maps, but I'm braincramping on the name of that facility in downtown LB where they usually have them in stock. The river trails do get boring after a while, and circling El Dorado on weekends/holidays is dangerous.

I do alot around your area. I will suggest taking South st (westbound- only part of the entire ride that is a little hairy is between Cheery and Orange where the street narrows) Then turn right heading North on Orange up to Harding and then left (west again) straight into DeForest Park. I take Deforest Ave south a few hundred yrds to the entrance of the 710 river trail (LARIO) and take that south (WHICH IS BEAUTIFULLY PAVED I MIGHT ADD) towards the Queen Mary. Check the map and you will find a way to navigate through the boardwalk of Longbeach and across Belmont shores to the end of the beach trail (This is very scenic) and head north a block or two towards 2nd st. Again here you have to ride along traffic in a bike lane up over the marina bridge and drop down turning right onto E. Marina and loop that around and down crossing over the riverbed mouth to Rivers end Cafe for a bite to eat (Say hi to Cruz- he works most mornings and is a rider himself). Then its simply back up Coyote Trail to where you began. Makes for about a 31 mile loop if I remember exactly.

Sounds like the SGRT, which runs alongside Liberty Park (nice trailhead). Might head seaward, turn left at the confluence bridge and head up Coyote Creek Trail. The scenery in the upper portion is stark interesting. Cerritos Regional Park makes a good trailhead on the CCT.

The Trike Squadron did a loop involving the lower LARIO, SGRT, Hartwell Trail and some Class II, III across Long Beach.
You could ride up the SGRT, over on the Whittier Greenway and then cross lots down to the top of the North Coyote Creek Trail and down the CRT to the SGRT and back to start.
Take Coyote Creek bike path north and ride into Fullerton, Rowland Heights, etc.
