General Cycling Discussion - Sex Before A Big Ride

Just got my Bicycling Magazine mag "Sex" issue. As usual not much substance. One question they did not address was. What effect does sex the night before a ride have? Does it have a positive, negative, or no effect. What do you think?

The runner's name escaped me, but about 20 years or so she set the American record for 1500 meters after having sex within a couple hours of her event. I have also tried it with great success! :D

There has long been a legend among baseball players and boxers that sex the night before a contest has an adverse effect on performance. I think that it was Casey Stengle who said something like "Chaseing women caused more of a problem than catching one." Sounds about right to me.

Don't think cycling teams have a position on that? In other sports, pro teams do, no? In basketball, only after the game right... Some all nighters? Man, the stuff you hear on the walls of hotel rooms...For a big mega ride..Hundreds of riders...

listen, anybody can have sex before a ride. but it takes a real biker to have sex during a ride.

Average male thinks of sex every six minutes..Probably pro cyclists teams ,just an advosary.

My wife an I own a tandem. Add a blanket, a bottle of wine and a secluded meadow and voila! ;)

I thought I saw something in there where it said sex the night before was a good thing, since it releases endorphines and stuff that promote sounder and more restful sleep.

Or maybe I just made that up... either way, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Found a way to not get in a ride...Get doing stuff about the house in cycling kit.....Twice now missed a ride...Wife wakes upon before I get out of the house..She can't leave my 'Bonjour' britches alone...
Gotta get out earlier...No doddling about.
Anyone recall Bicycling Mag. poll says sex burns up under 100 calories and and equivilant time biking burns up considerable more...Don't let me burn up my calories more efficiently, maybe you will not want to 'bonjour ' me.

Sex the night before is good, ensures a good night sleep. other wise id leave my gf home for my out of town races.
