PORTLAND’S FAVORITE WACKY WINTER RIDE: the Worst Day of the Year Ride (http://worstdayride.com/), presented by Good Sport Promotion
• Benefiting the Community Cycling Center (http://www.communitycyclingcenter.org/)
• Gigantic costume contest presented by Showers Pass
• Easy, short, flat route of 18 miles
• Hill Climb challenge route of 40 miles, about 3000 feet of elevation gain
• 3 rest stops with belly-warming treats (4 stops on the Hill Climb route)
• Huge finish line scratch-made hot soup and fresh-from-the-oven bread (included)
• Starts and finishes at the Lucky Labrador Brew Pub (for a beer, perhaps)
The ride is capped at 4000 participants, and most years it sells out. There are plenty of opening for volunteers still available as well if you don't feel like riding in winter weather. Of course, if you're a Portland area rider you ride in rain anyway, so come on out!
