Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries - Miyata vs. SR

I'm in the market for something vintage and cheap and found these, both from the same seller and in my size. I'm not too well versed on either of these brands, does anyone know which one is higher quality? They're both red so I don't have a whole lot of preference between the two.

Since these bikes are so similar and in the same place I would go take a look at both bikes in person and make decision based on which bike is in better condition. When it comes to early 80's Japanese road bikes at lower prices condition and components will likely matter more than brand.

+1 go look at then and decide which you like better. I tend to like miyata but the SR will be pretty comparable... I would base my decision on the condition of the components and frame. alloy wheel are better than steel so see which has better wheels... make sure they spin true. If you can do bike repair your self... I would buy both if I could get them each for $75.

As they sit and based on not much info and small pictures... I would want to pay less than a $100 for each knowing that the cables, housing, tires, and tubes will likely need to be replaced.

For between $150 and $250 you should be able to find a good working tall vintage ride

+1 I realy like SR 63cm with shimano 600 for a little bit more in price it is a way better bike.

The other thing about those first two bikes, seller is honest and describing them as needing work. So the big question is: "Who is going to do the work?" Do you have the time/tools/aptitude/access to parts/space/interest in doing the work yourself? If so, I would consider them. If not, forget it, the cost to have a shop rehab either bike will put you way over value on them.

Myself, the SR semi Pro looks like a MUCH better deal. 3X the bike, ready to ride, for $45 more.
