Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries - Zunow 53cm Trionic Ironman Racing Bike in original condition.

I just acquired a Zunow racing bike in almost perfect condition with original paint except for a flat tire and one missing handlebar plug. Paint is red with yellow spots with some paint chips. Top tube reads, "Trionic Here is the bike for you in the heart of Ironman". Tange Levin MTB-225 Headset, Shimano 105 derailleur, Sakae Pedals. Some wear on the side of the crankarms. Any information about it would be helpful, history, value, etc. Thanks in advance

If you are looking to sell it for a profit, your best bet will be to sell the frame and fork on their own as the parts are very so-so. I'd say that you could get an easy $500 for the frame and fork on eBay, Zunows are very hard to come by and, according to your description, is in perfect condition. It is a popular size as well, which really helps.

I've never heard of Zunow so I just judged it on the components. Based on that I'd put it at $200. But if this is truly a rare valuable frame you might be better off keeping the group for a different build and selling the frame and fork as jet sanchEz suggested.

The only way you can sell it on ebay for any money is if you already have a great reputation (perfect feedback) and post LOTS of high quality pictures. Ones like the one in the OP simply would not come close to what you'd need for a good ad.

+1 I'll add that they are highly sought after as well, for Japanese frames/bikes.

Realize while the frameset will bring serious money, the 105 bits won't. So you will do quite well on the frameset if marketed well. On the parts, they are good keepers for another project. 105 parts are good, reliable components, just not money makers. They will make you more if put on a future frame and sold as a complete bike.

Great feedback from you guys. I'm surprised that parting it out is the consensus vs keeping it original. I'm going to find a tire and ride it first. Might get hooked and keep it. I'll browse around to see about some good tires for the bike lane/trail.
