Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Anybody heard of Kromica Bikes?

Any word on these bikes?

Is what I'm thinking of buying, but as a noobie I know nothing of biking. I just bike to cruise and fitness reasons so I'm not looking for anything special...I searched the internet and couldn't find any info on these..maybe somebody here knows whats up.

I can't say anything personally about those bikes, but if you're pitting that thing against the Globe Roll, I'd pick the Roll.

The technical description on the website you posted is very ambiguous and somewhat unusual. I wouldn't trust it.

Yea, the seller for the Globe Roll hasn't responded back, hes on some trip or something. I'm going to email him again.

Also, I'm looking at this nice Zerolite front wheel, how are those?

I've seen them in person. I kind of get the sense that they're not the best quality bikes, and at the price that they sell for, roughly $300 and up, you can get a much better - or at least a well-known and regarded bike.

I haven't ridden them, and I don't think they are horrible, but again, this is only from seeing them in shop. For $300 though, I'd definitely look elsewhere.

Zerolite wheels are called that because on a scale of 1-10 rating how light they are, they score a zero.

So is that a good thing? I have a friend trying to tell me a wheel for 50, tells me its a nice wheel..But if I'm...a little heavy I'm guessing that wouldn' t be good..

No, that is a bad thing. 1 is bad, 10 is good. Zerolites get 0. That said, they are cheap and colorful and you probably won't have to worry about your weight on them.

Also, the hubs/bearings on Zerolite wheels are crap.

Kilo TT was already mentioned. You're looking at either ordering online, craigslist or ebay, or conversion. Online or craigslist are probably your best bets. Used $700 retail bikes easily go for $300 on craigslist. $300 will get you a decent stock bike that you can upgrade with better parts down the road.

If the parts on these Kromica bikes had any name recognition, the seller would be sure to mention it. So much really bad stuff being sold out there, not worth the risk ordering one online. You might be getting Wal-mart quality, might get worse.

There are few brands that have gained the SS/FG approval in your price range, the BikesDirect models being the most popular.

Search the forum for good bikes in the $500-700 range, then look for them on Craigslist or in the paper or at garage sales.
