Classic & Vintage - Lightest vintage pedals?

Title says all; I'm trying to determine what are some of the lightest possible C&V pedals I can mount on my '99 Match Paramount C&V weight weenie build.

Reasonably-priced pedals are also a consideration - part of the purpose of this build is to achieve a very lightweight steel frame without having to break the bank.

My 1980/81 Palo Alto catalog lists Avocet's Mod III platform pedals as 238 grams (without clips). Compare that to Campy Super Record at 260 grams.

Suntour Sprint...173 grams!

Bit of a cheat because they look like track pedals, but they were part of the road group even if Velobase has added the word Pista after them.

Looks like Sprint or a variant of will be my choice - the Avocets will likely be too hard to find locally.

Are weights per pedal or per pair? If per pedal PD-1050s are in the running:

Shimano PD-1050 with plastic clip, w/o strap = 174.5 grams each

I should note that end of clip was broken off on the sample I weighed, and I wildly guessed 1.5 grams of plastic were missing. Should be pretty close, though.

Did Weyless ever make pedals?
They certainly did, Tom! I had a set with steel axles (267.1g, according to Velobase). I've heard they also made them with Ti axles...

Vittoria made some super light platform pedals. Exposed metal shafts with composite bodies. About 200 g. a pair for steel spindle and 150 g. a pair for ti spindle. They worked well for me, back in the day. Hi-E was 284 g. per pair.

Velobase says a pair of Sprint pedals weigh 344 grams, and Campagnolo Super Record Strada pedals weigh 260 grams. That's 84 grams difference, which is 0.19 pounds. Some MKS track pedals would weigh less than Suntour Sprints I would think. If weight weenie is more important than a C&V manufacture date provided the pedals look C&V, Cecil Pro Track pedals by All-City Cycles weigh 238 grams, which is 0.23 pounds lighter than Suntour Sprint pedals.... almost a quarter of a pound. I'm using them on two steel bikes to save weenie weight.

For the moment, I've zeroed in on a cheap set of Campag track knockoffs - not that they were my first choice, but these have been beat bad enough that I won't mind taking a Dremel to them.

I haven't weighed them but I can say that they are fully functional... Just need a drill press and plenty of time and patience. BTW these are first gen pedals with the lighter cages to start with, with part of the outward lying cage removed. I have also fitted Christophe "Z" toe straps, the ones with alloy buckles and ALE alloy toeclips.

I have the drill press, but I hadn't thought of drilling it as you show. Good to know; I'll do just that.

According to the Speedplay pedal museum there are the Vittoria Titanium pedals at 75 g each... The Roger Piel pedals from the 50's were also seriously lightweight.

Those were reciulously light but I never wrote down down the weight.

I had a pair of Assos pedals that were the lightest I've ever weighed. 240g per pair!!!!

Plenty of easy to drill surface area there also...

Not vintage, but I really like the VO City pedals (http://store.velo-orange.com/index.php/components/pedals/vo-city-pedals-sealed-bearing-228g-pr.html)I'm using. 228g for the pair and they use sealed bearings.
