cinelli 1r stem, giro de italia bars, campy brake levers, campy c record crankset (I think?) nishiki frame, mavic g 40 rims, campy front derailleur and dont know the rest. Seems like a low quality bike that got some nice upgrades, would you go for it fo 225 in socal?232320232321?

Doesn't sound like a bad deal, but you can always make an offer.
If the rest of the components turned out to be ****, you'd still have lots of nice parts to sell. And assuming they're in good condition, I would think you could still profit (if that's what your goin for), but I would still make an offer. I don't know anything about Nishiki frames though. I know that C-Record components can go for quite a bit in good condition.

Brakeset is worthless, and the Nishiki International doesn't have enough snob appeal - as a frameset, especially - to attract anyone except hipsters.

Actually, the brake levers are first-gen Nuovo Records - check out the curvature. 'Course, it would be nice to know if the cable access holes are round on the backside (later versions had the U-shaped hole but retained the extreme curvature at the lever tips). And Kurt's right: that C-Record crank is worth the admission price if condition is good.

Because of this, I wouldn't push down the price - just a couple of parts flips makes this a bargain. Then you can give the frame away to a local co-op and feel philanthropic :)

Gotta agree with Kurt. For a flip, that's a lot of f-ing around just to break even. I don't see the point.

Agree with Kurt on this one. I've fallen victim to this a few times and thought to myself "well if it turns out to suck, at least I have this part to make it worth it." Then after eBay and parting the rest of it out, I've made my initial investment back with a huge pain in the arse and not a dollar of profit. Now if you're going to ride it, that's a different story.

I think it depends on what you need and want. If you factor in shipping, the components make the price worthwhile. In addition, the parts seem to be fresh — going on what we can see. As mentioned above, snob appeal (bling points) is a factor for some people. If bling were a deciding factor in my ownership, I'd have off-loaded my Reynolds 501 Trek 560 a long time ago. (Later models had 531 triangles).

Apparently, Nishiki made nice frames, and some of them were very nice. On the whole, I would go for this bike. If you had to buy the parts piecemeal, your costs would be X + Y. The X factor can only be decided by you. Many enthusiasts bemoan the inflated prices of vintage components with justification IMHO. In this case, the wheel set you would acquire is a settling factor. If the set is clean undamaged, I'd go for the pull the buy trigger.

I would offer $175 and put some DT shifters on. Ride it. The bikes future will determine itself.
