Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - First substantial purchase

Good evening fellow ss/fg riders, I'm in need of a fg rear wheel which falls in my budget of about 70$. My lack of knowledge permits me from finalizing my purchase so I ask of your expertise to help a fellow noobie rider.

Is it even possible to get a quality rim/hub for this low of a price? I would greatly appreciate if you guys pointed me in the right direction.

You may want to look for used, if not you'll be able to find one for Around 90-100.

Could you please recommend me any within $100 price range then?

Sealed hub with stainless spokes, and good rim, for $90.

Unless it's DA Track or Record Track, I would take sealed over loose ball bearing any day. Looks like those vueltas are loose ball.

Zerolites are heavy and sh*tty. Velocity has a solid track record, and Dan's suggestion falls within your pricepoint. Quality > quantity is a pretty good mantra to live by when maintaining your bicycle, give that some thought.

And if you can save up a bit more, relatively small increases in cost at this price-point equal significant increases in value. For another $50, you can get the same wheels with a lighter, nicer rim.

I fully agree and def learned from his suggestion of getting sealed hub. I guess I'm just looking for more of a variety? I understand I might not be able to be too picky with such small price range, any other suggestions?

One of the barrings loosened in my hub, long story short it compressed itself under pressure? Lol, don't know whether this is common or just a sign of poor maintenance.

That would be fantastic, thanks for letting me know. Didn't think this was even an option, but I guess I'm not dealing with big corporate business here.

Really like the simplistic and sleek look of it too, don't mind settling for this until I have some more money to spend, thoughts? Only thing I'm concerned about is the weight, says shipping weight 7lbs.

Yeah Ben I figure its a perfect opportunity, I will buy a new hub and rebuild my old wheel. This is an excuse for me to make this purchase and I will also have a spare rear not to mention knowledge and further understanding of bike components, which is priceless.

I disagree! I have put over 2k miles on Zerolites and still true after hitting numerous path holes.My Mavic Cosmics did not fare better and cost me 4x more.
They spin real well.Solid wheels on the budget but perform well.

Do not buy this. Loose ball Formulas are some of the worst hubs on the market (though their cartridge bearing hubs are quite fine). Spend a little bit more money and get a much better product.

Thanks again guys for all of your input. I am going to wait a few days and order Wabi wheel set like you've suggested. I really like the aesthetics and they are light enough to increase my performance rather just getting something similar to what I had.
