I pulled this Univega Sportour road bike out of the shed today and was wondering what year it is and what the value is. It is a 12-speed with 27 x 1.25 tires and the serial number is K191165. Any help would be appreciated!

1982, $300.

Both guesses. I think there is a Univega Serial Number thread around, try searching for it.

The serial number indicates a 1982 model. Appears to be in nice condition, with the possible exception of the tires. I'm not familiar with the 1982, so we'll need confirmation on a few things. IBased on the 1983 version, I assume the frame is butted CrMo main tubes with hi-tenisile forks and stays? Are the wheels 27"? The derailleurs appear to be Shimano 600 EX? If you're not sure, post detail pics of the tubing decal and derailleurs. Tires should state the size. Also, where you live is important, as local market conditions vary quite a bit.

The clipless pedals and aero bar might best be removed and sold separately, especially if you still have the original pedals. This is a lower mid-range bicycle for the era and those are specialty items that typically do not add value for most buyers in this range. In fact, the pedals will depress the value, unless the potential buyer has the appropriate shoes.

Relatively basic model, large size, in needs a little work condition = $100 around here (as it sits). Flat, old tires = big discount. Fully rehabbed, fresh tires, cables, etc., $200 come riding season. That's my local market. Every area is different.

Thank you for the quick responses! The wheels are 27" x 1.25". The derailleurs are a Shimano 600. It doesn't have an "EX" not sure what the difference is. The tube says Champion Molybdenum Double Butted Steel Tubes. I live near Phoenix, Arizona. Thanks again for the information everybody :)

I measured from the middle of the crank to the top of the seat tube and I got 25 inches.

Yes, those are 600EX derailleurs. In my area this would be about a $150-$175 bicycle, in cleaned-up, riding condition, during the spring. The pedals and aero-bar would fetch about $35 and $20, respectively. I'm not familiar with Phoenix market conditions but at least the prices probably don't fluctuate much during the winter. Hopefully, a member from your area will pop in, with a more accurate value.

In fact, I think this may be an upgrade, as otherwise this is identical the 1983 model, which used SunTour ARx. Plus, the forks and stays are hi-tensile steel. Some might even consider it upper, entry level for the era.

Yes, those are 600EX derailleurs. However, we still don't know where you live.

Ah, okay. I saw the Arabesque scrolls and assumed they were original equipment. aRX is generally mid range or a little lower.
