Foo - I ate a chicken pot pie

I ate a chicken pot pie. It was a cheap store-brand. It wasn't very good. The paper/plastic "pan" it was in is probably giving me cancer.
My two dogs stared at me as if I were eating the best thing ever, hoping for scraps.
Maybe next time I'll give them the pot pie and eat the expensive dog food myself.

Been a long time since those cheap ones were any good. When they had metal pans, I think they cooked better. When I was kid they used to be filled to the brim. Now there's like a tablespoon of stuff in them. It's been that way for a long long time.
Go the Giant Eagle down there. They have incredible pot pies in the cafeteria section, hot and ready to eat or cold and ready to take home. They are awesome.
It doesn't help that they're at 8 bazillion degrees F. I believe a bratwurst would have been a healthier choice.

There is no Giant Eagle in Louisville. Google tells me the closest ones are in Ohio.

I was lazy and nearly out of food. I would have to ride to the grocery store and get something else, so I ate what I had.
If I *had* bratwurst, I'd have to fire up the grill, and I'm naked. The neighbors don't like that much.
Makes me want to try this (http://allrecipes.com/recipe/chicken-pot-pie-ix/).

Sucks for you. :)

Chicken Pot Pie: "World's hottest food".
And I second the Marie Callendar endorsement.

The Marie Callender pot pies are the best commercial product I've had. Let me know if there are any better that are available nationally.

Oh, I'm smart enough to give it time to cool. I like my taste buds to remain functional, at least after eating it.

My wife serves pot pie ala mode with a scoop of cottage cheese on top. Helps cool it down and tastes pretty good too.

This is why I learned to smoke meat and store ahead for a fast meal or 30.........I will NEVER eat a pot pie.

They are even better in the restaurant. I used to work at one (Pismo Beach, CA).

Something about store bought pot pies... they are all filled with a bunch of yellow glop (what is that stuff????), a couple of soggy carrots and hard peas and something that looks like chicken... may or may not be. The best part is unfortunately the crust, the part one should not eat! I won't even mention the sodium and calorie count. Not even good for the dogs.
I just got finished eating some fresh, just made futomaki (sushi) with fresh japanese pickles... much better for you!

This the place with the same owner as the Blue Oyster Club out there?

When I get a hankering for a pot pie, Marie Callender is my go-to-gal.

Now where did that darn cat go?

I'm old enough to remember the pre-Horton Plaza days when a strip club wasn't a high end restaurant.
A chicken pot pie every now and then ain't gonna kill ya. Actually sounds pretty good.

Chicken and Beef Pot Pies are what my brother and I got when Mom was too wiped out to cook dinner...which was rare so they were kind of a treat. I got the round chicken and my older brother got the larger, rectangular beef pie. Stouffers as I recall.

See, this is what's great about America: Only here can you sit around naked and eat a chicken pot pie. BTW, were you sitting in a bean-bag chair whilst dining?
...and by the by, where was your heavily-armed girlfriend while all of this was transpiring? Did she have any input on the situation?

Wow - are those still around? I remember there was one in Fresno when I was growing up...

I made two of these last night. Yum! (I confess that I cheated on the bottom crust)

I'll agree with that statement. Oddly, a product that is better when microwaved (in the box with the foil) than baked. At least this was the case the last time I had one, which was 2-3 years ago.

No bean bag chair for me. I was sitting in my home-office chair. I keep my blinds closed to keep the neighbors unaware of my nakedness (ignorance is bliss).
Although my girlfriend lives two blocks away, she was 120 miles away for work during the week. We generally just spend weekends together. I may just make a (recumbent) bike rider out of her yet. She was riding my 'bent up and down the alley giggling yesterday. It was great. I wish I had my camera with me.

I'm stopping at the grocery store on the way home today. Maybe I'll give them a chance.

I remember when I was a kid the banquet brand ones had a foil cup and had veggies and a little meat in them. Now they're like 90% "gravy" with maybe 1 carrot chunk, two peas, and maybe a mystery meat lump. Marie is really the only way to go, though I think one of the other brands had a "premium" one that was almost as good.

You can get the Marie Callender chicken pies at Costco, in little cardboard pans that are silver on the food side and actually brown the crust when you microwave them. You have to leave it in the box, because there is some of that silver stuff inside the box as well and it browns the top.
I have several in my freezer and may just have one for lunch tomorrow, if I can't catch a delicious bass.

I honestly think those are pretty good.
Course the size really matters. The large and small ones have the same footprint and even with liking the crust the large ones have enough crust left over to give my dogs a treat once i've finished. The small ones are way much crust to filling. (And Marrie Callendar small pies have a better ration of fillingot crust than most store bought pies).
