Touring - Offtopic Offforum website build question

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Sometime i would like to start a trekking web site for myself. I figured the touring forum would have some knowlegable people who had done somthing like this for themselves.
I dont really want anything to complex, but would like the flexibility of some more advanced designs. I guess my question is if there are any good web builders that you have used. Or if need i to know html for a good flexible website. I guess i could do a search, but i find it to be a little confusing with the mass of options out there.
You might want to consider simply setting up a blog. I personally prefer something like movable type (http://www.movabletype.org/). I use the older free unrestricted version (2.661) however. Of course this is all contingent on you having a hosting provider that supports all the necessary requirements. You can find one off the MT website or another possibility is to pick from the many other blog-hosting providers including Movable Type's own endorsed provider, TypePad (http://www.typepad.com/). I run my own network and hosting systems however.

For those even more of a beginner visit Blogger (http://www.blogger.com/start) or you can create a journal at Crazy Guy on A Bike (http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/login/?o=as).
If you want to muck around with code I can recommend Serendipity (http://www.s9y.org), which is what I use for my own site. I'd also recommend the Quick Start PHP Guides from Ullman (you can get them at any bookstore or check your library). To the point with little or no fluff, it shows how PHP works and how to use it to create webpages.
