Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries - Bianchi road bike

Anybody know approximate age & value of this? Apparently been sitting for quite a few years.

The lugged frame, downtube SIS shifters and tricolor logo Shimano 600 RD suggests late 80's to me. Based on what I've seen elsewhere, I'd think somewhere around $150, plus or minus $50 depending on the condition and function of everything.

Let's see. The rear dropout adjusters have been painted red, so it is a repaint and may not even be a Bianchi, though the dropouts look like the Gipiemme used by Bianchi. The dropouts plus the pump peg and dual bottle bosses point towards late 1980s. But here is no Bianchi logo on the fork crown. Maybe a replacement fork and the reason for the repaint? Components are a real mix. Cira 1988-1991 Ultegra rear derailleur with 7 speed cogs sytem but Modolo brakes. Is there a Bianchi logo on the seat stay caps? What's the serial number?

I agree with T-Mar that something certainly seems off. the RD could be a replacement but I suspect that the bike may also be cobbled together. the decals would suggest a '93ish or newer bike but that would mean vertical dropouts and unicrown fork

to me the HS looks more like the Ofmega Bianchi often used on the CdI and a few other quasi Italian spec bikes

the shifters and front derailleur are Suntour right?

the rims are mismatched any way.

the absence of anything on the forkcrown or stay caps would not preclude it from being a Bianchi as these were largely gone from midline bikes by '88ish anyway. if it was an Italian frame I think it would still have aB in the DT/HT lug

Owner is getting me the serial number tomorrow so perhaps I'll have more to go on then. He wants $200 for the bike but there should be some give I think in the price.

Many of my bikes are cobbled together as this Bianchi has been, but that's because the frames were trash-worthy and I put them together cheap. Considering the wide variety of parts on this bike I wouldn't be paying $200. I'd be thinking $100-$150. $150 if you can verify that it's actually a Bianchi.

The rest of these guys looked far more carefully than I did. But it sounds like my estimate was in the ballpark.

That Quattro Front d along with the HS suggests cd'i with rear d replacement.
I think those might be the same ofmega cranks that came on my own Cd'i.

that is what I keep thinking but the color and decals are wrong. Its funny that if it was repainted the painter took the HS and BB off but not the dropout screws, although perhaps this was smart since he may not have a tap for those.

have you seen the bike? check the dropouts and fork ends and see what is stamped there.

I have not seen the bike but might get more info and photos today.

I am leaning more towards a repainted, and wrongly decalled, Campione de Italia from '88. I can't really see anyone faking a Bianchi by painting it red and putting a mix of Suntour Modolo and shimano on it.

I certainly would try for $150 but if it fits and you can ride it away $200 may not be bad as a rider.

Its really a parts bin filler. Some decent parts on there. Myself, as a keeper, I would pass.

I suspect it's a Japanese Bianchi. Japanese parts, no "Made in Italy" decal, nothing special. If it were me, I would offer $100, clean it up and hope to flip it for $200. It's way too dirty and ugly (paint esp.) to be worth $200.

I still think cd'i. It doesn't make sence that he would have almost a full cd'i group on there if it wasn't. Unless he had a cd'i with a bad frame and carried the parts over....
If it is a Cd'i, it should have columbus frame/forks. It's really a sweet frame. I'm doing a full modern 105 upgrade on mine.

While I certainly wouldn't rule out a Campione d'Italia at this stage, I don't see "almost a full cd'i group". The only thing that I can postitively identify as OEM to a Cd'I would be the headset.
