I thought I'd share with you all my Giant CFR Team.

Robbie was very instrumental in my decision to buy this bike. His knowledge is encyclopedic, and he had some very nice things to say about this bicycle. He has been most helpful since, and I am grateful to him!

The bike is very, very clean. I took it to my LBS right after I received it, and they replaced a ferule on the rear derailleur cable, adjusted the front derailleur, and looked the bike over. It didn't need anything else. I added a tail light, my seat wedge, and a Garmin mount and gave it a thorough cleaning, to include flushing out the brifters, lubing the chain, and polishing all the brightwork. The bike rides as well as my Look 566 does, it's easily as refined, and in some ways I prefer it to my Look. It's purposed differently, it's more of a race bike rather than tourer - it's fairly stiff (but not uncomfortable), it's well geared, and it accelerates very well. It weighs 18.7 pounds on the LBS's scale. The only thing I don't know is the model year, and I wish I did. The tag on the frame says 1992, but it's referring to a patent, not the build. It could be a 1998, which is when Shimano introduced the Ultegra name. Anyway - I would not know I was on a bike perhaps 20 years old the way this one rides and performs! I am so happy with it.

That is super nice.
The other one for sale has 8-sp 600 STI, and that was 1992, so age is probably post-Cadex and pre-TCR.
Bikepedia wasn't much help other than that. The headset looks a lot like a Shimano 6500, commeasurate with the group.

Outstanding bar/stem combo, I have the same combo on a bike. The Forma fits my hands, the stem is graceful.
Roll them forward and ride the drops, and you'll be amazed at "living for the descents...."

The fork may be an age clue, as it's not only CF, it's curved. Not sure when they came out, but I'll bet it was around then.
The wheels really snap that bike to it, and the tires almost look like tubulars.

My vote is for red stripes on the tires. Tell your boyfriend it's your "other" birthday.

Really an excellent bike, and I'm guessing it came right on the heels of the Cadex last model, judging by the rear yoke and the lugs.

Great looking ride Sara!:thumb:

It really looks clean and the fact that it didn't need much work says it was well cared for. I bet you never thought you would be riding on gumwall tires, eh? Now we just have to get you on down tube shifters and you'll really be hooked on C&V!

Good luck and ride it well!

You can use the bike's components to determine the age of the bicycle. Take a look at How Old Is My Bike? (http://www.mytenspeeds.com/My_TenSpeeds_1/FREE_SITE_VINTAGE/VINTAGE_1_Start.htm) and apply the information contained there. Pay closest attention to Vintage Component Numbers (http://www.mytenspeeds.com/My_TenSpeeds_1/FREE_SITE_VINTAGE/VINTAGE_5_Component_Numbers.htm).

Hope that is a help and, by the way, nice bicycle.

Thank you, everyone! :thumb:

Robbie, the bike IS super comfortable in the drops. Those bars are really sweet. That Forma bar has a terrific bend and feel to it - I've got Carbon Pro bars on my Look, same width (narrow, what ever it is), and this one feels waaaaaay better! I am going roll them slightly forward, yes. The bar and stem does have graceful lines, doesn't it? Very flowing - in fact, the whole bike flows, it's just a very appealing look. And that yellow! Love it!

Oh - the other big surprise was the saddle - it's super, super comfortable. Again, I have a Specialized (bad word) Dolce Gel 155 saddle on my Look that I thought was nice, until I spent time on this old Selle Italia saddle. Wow. Just, wow! I don't even notice it, even when I'm climbing, and that's saying something.

This bike really, really speaks to me in a very positive, friendly way. I really do love it!

Ummm- that's a great idea on the red stripes on the new tires! No - I never considered gumwalls!!! These look gooooood, too!

Once again - my thanks, everyone!
