Touring - Has anyone ridden Cerchio Ghisallo Wood Rims on tour?

The deal breaker for me would be the need to either run tubulars or run pressures below 65 pounds with clinchers. Neither of those sounds good to me. I have a pal who will only run tubulars, and has done the tran Canada twice on a credit card basis. But barring that kind of enthusiasm for tubulars, I certainly can't see running clinchers at 65. That pretty much tells you what you need to know.

My second thought is what about braking. I guess one could run discs, though I haven't really though that through. I am not sure I can see long descents on rims that have a varnish braking surface.

I personally like to explore oddball ideas with my bikes, but I know that my mindset changes the moment I hit the road. There I just get into the tour, and want nothing more than total reliability. It is cool to get infatuated over stuff at home, but it doesn't hold it's interest for me when I hit the road.
