Is it just me or does he look skinnier? The latter half of last season had me wondering if he was perhaps trying to reinvent himself as a rider, changing his focus from the TT to a more rounded road rider. Certainly his performance at Copenhagen would support that.

Perhaps some weight loss is a further indication?

I hope you're right about his riding focus. I like him and would enjoy seeing him be competitive in a wider range of events. Or maybe it's just to help him tow the Schleck boys half way up the mountains insteadof just to the base.

In this particular pic, he sure does look thinner than the usual Spartacus. If he lost a bit of weight, he could be a Grand Tour contender (I've always thought).

Brad Wiggins can beat Cancellara in a TT, weighs 30 pounds less, and still can't climb well enough to win a GT.

Well, that's the devil's advocate stance. I actually think Wiggins could be the likely winner of the Tour this year, and that the Worlds TT was an instance of Spartacus going for 1st or nothing (he almost crashed twice near the end). I also think he's ALWAYS been able to contest a slightly uphill sprint if he reads it right and really wants the win; not just this year's Worlds RR.

On the same note, I was excited to read this article about Tony Martin targeting the TdF, and wondering what he could do if he lost some weight.

Wiggins HAS beat Cancellara, I don't think that anyone would suggest that he's the better TTer.

But, maybe Cancellara looks at Wiggo and says, "hey I can do that...that guy's not so great." 100+ kms of TT in this year's Tour...

I'm sure he's not aiming for the podium, but maybe he thinks a top ten would look really good on his palmares.

Well maybe not.

I think Fabian is too valuable of a teammate on too good of a team to even consider trying for a GC spot. Maybe if he was on a wildcard team and lost some weight, they'd say "go for it", but no way as it is.

Jens is in the same boat, but he doesn't know when to stop torturing himself, and sometimes drops GC contenders who weigh 10 kilos less while leading out a teammate on climbs, so maybe he could accidentally pull a top ten. :)

I wish people would get off the Wiggins bandwagon, HE IS NEVER GOING TO WIN THE TOUR DE FRANCE......EVER

Every year they hype him up, this year he crashed out then it was ohhhh he's going to win the Vuelta...right.
