So I've spotted this in the local classifieds

However seller is asking way too much for this in my opinion. Is this even a real Bianchi? If it is it must have been a very low end bike for them.
Thoughts?

Agreed.. Low end based on the looks of the brakes. Interesting none-the-less

Insanely over-priced.
why is there a lever on the down tube and two on the stem?
is the lower one a parking brake?
Bottom of the barrel bike, high end price, +1 Shifters are a mess.

I believe Bianchi mixtes are indeed quite rare. This one is a nice "swoopy" mixte which makes it even more interesting. In the 70s and 80s, pretty much all mixtes tended to be on the low-end for most manufacturers. The thing is that they're in so high demand these days in many urban markets... and you know what happens when the demand for a product is high. I agree, however, that the price for this particular bike is too high, especially when it doesn't seem to be in pristine condition at all. Looks like not even cable housings have been replaced, the front fender is bent, etc. My experience is that listed price means nothing! I'm sure the seller will be willing to sacrifice the price significantly if it doesn't sell after a few days.

The OP's Bianchi is remarkably similar to a Chiorda (http://www.mytenspeeds.com/My_TenSpeeds_1/Feature_Bicycles/Custom_Built_Bicycles/CHIORDA_EVIE/Chiorda_Evie_1_Start.htm) I owned and built up for a lady a year, or less, ago. The Chiorda was an entry level piece but pretty cool, none the less. And I tend to agree, the swoopy Mixtes are unusual.

The shifters just dont make sense. Why have the front derailleur on the stem, easier to reach than the DT shifter having the rear? But then again, it's a mixte so all normal flows of thought and reason are out for a break.

This bike is worth $75 to $100. It appears to me that it has a Simplex brazed on down tube shifter mount, not being utilized, and then replaced with a modern Shimano SIS indexed double stem shifter. The rear derailleur appears to be a very basic non-indexed Shimano Eagle, or so. Nice frame design, though, but asking price is nuts.

Crazy price!
I think this bike was made for people who had never heard of Bianchi but had heard of Italy  Judging by the size of the decals.
To me the bike looks very low end and unappealing.
I like Randy's mixte!

I agree it looks a bit over priced is likely for the '70s some time.
here is my Bianchi Mixte, similar frame but I think a bit nice model.

I never realized Halifax was such a flaming hot market! Or maybe the seller typoed and added one too many zeros? $35 would seem about right.
Randy's Chiorda is nice because he ditched all the OEM components and went with Japanese replacements.

Yeah I'd like to have it but I wouldn't pay more than $50 for it, probably less depending on condition. Ideally I'd convert it to a 3 or 5 speed internal with drum brakes.
