I was watching this frame and didn't expect it to go for this much.

I think its a '62 but not a high end model. Didn't the higher end models have the incorporated headset races, and nicer lugs. This frame looks kinda basic.

I cannot account for it, the seller must be thrilled.
Note how the seller shoots around the one piece head tube/lug fitting.
And I do not think the water bottle bosses are original too, hard to tell as they are not given much attention. This is an auction where there are many detailed images, but not of the significant details.
That is an entry level early 70's model, that fools a lot of of people a lot of the time. Somebody did not do their homework on this one!

Don't see any problems here. The seller made no claims and started at a very reasonable price. For whatever reason, it was worth that much to the winning bidder.

Yeah, you can't fault the seller. In fact I think it's the first time I've seen one of these listed on ebay that was not billed as a "rare 60's Bianchi". And I've seen a lot them listed as such.
He shows everything you need to see in clear photos and just lists the specs with no sales pitch.
The buyer just saw what they wanted, well at least two them did. Just like when those gas-pipe versions of the Molteni Merckx bikes go for close to a grand. Education is not cheap....

There were three bidders who waged war when the price went over $68 (about $30 more than I would have offered). The bare frame just isn't worth more than $150 in perfect condition, and this one was far from perfect. I even think I see a structural crease in the photo of the junction of the TT and ST (in the ST where it is brazed to the ST lug)... Hope the buyer is happy with it.
