Wow, what a great time! It is the first significant snowfall in the area, and the streets had a nice dusting. Temps were 26F, and about 15 mph winds. I rode about 8 miles, in 45 minutes, so I wasn't hauling. My single speed road bike with slick tires handled fine, although I slowed considerably to take turns. Nothing beats the thrill of riding down a cozy, quiet side street making first tracks in an inch of fresh snow!!

Why would anyone get a trainer if that means missing out on rides like this? For my commute this morning, there was a dusting of snow and ice (< .5 inches), and my Nokkians just ate it up (I just put them on last night). It was 25F with no wind. I was the first one out, so I had the small forest to myself. It took me about 42 minutes to do 8 1/2 miles, all but the first and last miles were on a bike path. In good conditions, I can do the route in abut 30 minutes.
