Classic & Vintage - What kind of rear brake caliper would fit this Peugeot?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I recently picked up an old Peugeot as a bit of a project. I'll post some photo's soon but I have a question about the rear caliper which is missing. The cable guide is Mafac, but basically I'm stumped as to what type of caliper would fit. Any Peugeot experts have an idea?
Uhhhmmm.. maybe defective brake bridge brazing that got so loose that the bridge turned 90 degrees on the PO??

I've seen that before, but don't recall the brake that fit it, so I'm really no help at all :p

Do remember though, what might look very strange, could be very "normal" on some bikes, specially ones that come from France........
Like Ex Pres, I do vaguely remember coming across a certain brake caliper that might fit this frame....most likely French, of course!....
Someone should eventually find us the answer.....

The same one that is fitted to this Peugeot UO8 (http://www.mytenspeeds.com/My_TenSpeeds_1/Feature_Bicycles/Feature_Bicycles_France/Peugeot_UO8%20_BlueDump/PEUGEOT_UO8_DUMP_1_Start.htm)...

Or this Peugeot UE8 (http://www.mytenspeeds.com/My_TenSpeeds_1/Feature_Bicycles/Feature_Bicycles_France/Peugeot_UE8/PEUGEOT_UE8_UE18_1_Start.htm), a model identical to yours.
The brakes are made by Mafac and you will need the Racer model. I have lots to spare, in case you cannot find what you need nearer to home.

Robbied196, you need one of these (http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-WEINMANN-MAFAC-VERTICAL-BOLT-PART-1084-12-/180775977529?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a17168239)coupled with a MAFAC Racer.

:twitchy::twitchy::twitchy::twitchy::rolleyes:
I suspect it might have something to do with providing a top mount for the fender at the same time a brake mount???,,,,,Such strange mechanical contortions just to do so if that's the case.......We cannot be surprised....C'est la vie with a French C&V bike.....

Thanks for all the help, you learn something new everyday, as they say :) I've found a pair of Mafac calipers coming to a close on Ebay, so hopefully if they don't go to crazy they will do the job. It seems I need the front caliper as well as its been changed for a weinmann at some point.

I have an old dual pivot brake here with that attachment built in so it mounts on the bottom of the brake bridge. PM me if you want it. It works perfectly but I have no use for it. It came off an old peugeot but was not original to it I think.
