has anyone tried putting bmx cranks on a road bottom bracket? any bolt on issues? any problems lining it up with the rear cog? Is it just a plain bad idea?

(I'm in a hotel in va, far away from my pile of parts and tools, so I turn to you wonderful people to cure my curiosities...)

I just did this. no problems so far. Everything fit fine for me. The only issue is the looks, the bmx cranks are a little wider and sorta give a funky look to a streamlined fixed gear bike. Also, I think the bmx and track cranks use different chainring bolt spacing, so this might be an issue for some people.

i think a fair amount of people do it. different bcd, but that's not really a problem, just get a new chainring.
