Training & Nutrition - How long do you spend on an indoor trainer/rollers?

I just got a trainer and I'm just getting back into cycling. Right now it is about 30 mins 4x a week. Looking to increase that with longer rides pretty soon.

These days? 0 hours. It's summer ... why would I ride inside on a trainer?
But during the winter, I'll ride anywhere from about 30 minutes to a couple hours whenever the weather is bad enough that I can't ride outside. The longest I've ridden on a trainer is 4 hours.

Between 15 and 40 minutes, 4x a week. I would do more in a session but I have my trainer in my gym so I end up using the weights or treadmill because I get bored.

Just got a trainer for Christmas. Doing 30-60 minutes. Its interesting that I find its easier the longer I'm on the bike.

After about 30 minutes it gets painfully boring for me. It helps to have the TV or a movie on, but even then I get bored easily.

About 60min on either is my starting time. I'll push longer but usually I plan my week around the weather well enough that I can minimize the indoor as much as possible and 60min is the (bitter)sweet spot. Besides, more than 60min on rollers/trainer gets mighty tedious regardless of the included "distractions."

Monday 80 minutes medium pace (4x20minute sets with 30 situps for each set)
Tuesday 60 minutes hard pace (4x15minute sets with 35 situps for each set)
Wednesday 90 minutes easy pace (2x20minute sets and 2x25minute sets with 30 situps for each set)
Thursday 60 minutes hard pace (4x15minute sets with 35 situps for each set)
Friday 80 minutes medium pace (4x20minute sets with 30 situps for each set)
If I don't break my trainer time into sets, I can only stand to be on it for about 50 minutes before my butt tells me "no more". I will occasionaly skip a day, but I always stick to the same routine.

2 hours last saturday and 1.5 hours on tuesday endurance pace.
I'm getting real sick of the whining, if you think a 30 is going to suck then it will. Man up and do two hours and watch TV wimps.

Anywhere from 1-2.5 hours. My DVDs are great for when I'm motivated and my TV or PS3 is great for when I'm not. If I do a long haul watching a movie or something, I make sure to periodically do some high rpm sprints to get my HR up and simulate a split decision to punch it on the road like I would in a club ride. For me this is a nice way to keep my fitness level up and work on my spinning muscle memory during the winter so that my first 'real' spring rides don't hurt so much, if at all.
The key is to find what will occupy your mind on the bike. Some days it's the desire to punch out a trainer DVD and just kill it (me) others it's chill out and watch that new movie I've been meaning to see and get a little training in rather than sit on my lazy a$$.

this is exactly how i am. i wasn't planning on buying one, but a friend gave me his magnetic trainer when he upgraded to something a bit more suited to his needs, and i find the resistance on it to be so unnatural and awkward that i can't stand to ride on it for very long. i'll get on there every now and then when i have the urge to ride and there's bad weather or something, but i can't go more than about 30 minutes without getting bored. i might eventually buy a better one, but it doesn't really get cold enough here in Houston to keep me from riding so i'm not sure how often i'd use it. right now i use it mostly for performing bike maintenance or the occasional tuneup.

1.5 hours to 3.5 hours. Depending on what day the training falls under and condition. I don't use it too often though living in So. Cal. Typically, it is more of time constraint I would jump on trainer than weather constraint.

Rollers! Generally 30-45 minutes or whenever the album I'm listening to ends. I am by no means doing a serious training routine.
Related question: I bought a slick racing tire because that's all my one-horse town had without special ordering. Clearly not ideal based on the rubber gunk stuck to the roller, but I got a flat while on the rollers last time I rode (wtf?) which was on the inside of the tube. Rim tape installed right. Never happened with my crazy-loud regular road tires. Could that be caused by the new tire or is it more likely that I had the tube pumped too high or something?

I'm not certain that I'm making gains. Do people tend to actually get significantly better on a trainer or is it typically for maintenance? I've been going 4-5 times a week for the last month. Today I actually just started a core routine, I didn't realize my core was as weak as it is. Legs are getting ripped though.

I use rollers for maintenance, recovery, and intervals of various sorts. You'll get more results per unit time if each workout has a purpose, and that purpose on that day is part of a year-long periodized training plan. Right now all I'm doing on the rollers is high cadence work, zone 2 base, and recovery. It's the end of January in the PNW. Long rides on the weekends and more base during the week. I also do spin class, which is much less effective per unit time than rollers, unless you are using a fixie in which case it's about the same. But spin class is much cheerier than sitting on a bike in a cold garage with a fan, even with Stoker for company. And then after spin class, one can continue to abuse oneself with weights, so there's that.
So yeah, one will get better the more hours one puts in, and even better if those hours have a purpose. No comparison with waiting until spring to start riding.

One hour most of the time but I have done 3. On the 3 hour ones, my bike is on the trainer in my unfinished basement. My bike is about 12 feet from the center where the drain is. On my 3 hour rides, there is a line of sweat from my bike to the drain. Now anywhere else, that wouldn't be cool but here it's dam cool.

About an hour, plus or minus 15 minutes. A little longer on rare occasions. For me and my chums in the Velo Garage (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php/784668-The-Indoor-Riding-Season-2011-12) trainer rides are for intensity during the winter when outside riding is curtailed.

Anywhere from 30 minutes to 3.5 hours. Trainer depends on training DVD and rollers depends on how long the hockey game is.
