Has anyone had any luck getting the Polar IR interface unit to work with windows XP??

I have not had any luck since i bought the darn thing.. Have done everthing that the Polar site recomends with no luck. have sent another e-mail to Polar service without any response.

If anyone knows of any tricks could you let me know.. other than taking a hammer to the whole thing.

I've been using the Polar 710 IR interface a few years now without problem on my Windows XP machine. Under Options.... Preferences..... Hardware..... 'Software Preferences' in the Polar Presicion Performance software you have to select the correct Com port, the one that you have connected your cable to on the back of your computer.

Another thing you can try is to call your local Polar Service Center. I had a similar problem a few years ago and they talked me through to a solution.

Yes. Mine works great. IR window built in on the hard drive outer case. Have an Inspiron 8000 (Dell). Running XP and just downloaded two 3 hour rides. The best product around.
