Bike 1 71 Schwinn Super Sport has the Wienmann Centerpulls, 610 front/750 back with Nashbar cartridge pads. The levers are the newer Tektros. It stops great, feels good and has plenty of clearance with the SKS hybrid fender and 35-622 Continental Contacts. I wonder if going with the Tektro nutted version dual pivots will make my braking better and if there is any adverse effects on fender clearance. They also squeal when misted for a few hours and at one time, lost most stopping power until I rode 1/4 mile with the pads engaged to heat up the pads. On dry it modulates better than my Avid BB5, though I doubt it stops better, its strong enough for the most part, except when wet. The rims are Sun Ringle CR18's.
Bike 2 85 Raleigh Team USA with Shimano BR450's on Weinmann LP18's coupled to Shimano basic road levers. It stops fine, but the feel isn't as good as the other bike. Its also a pain taking off the wheels, having to deflate/re-inflate due to the quick release only opens the caliper a few mm's. I would like to use the big mouth Tektro's and swap out the wheelset to the same as bike 1, but would like to know if said Tektro's are any better than the Shimano's and offer fender clearance.
