I'm pretty sure that roof mounted bike won't get stolen anytime soon.

Why does the USS Ronald Reagan have a bunch of cars on the deck?

According to the accompanying article, the USS Ronald Reagan was transporting the servicemen's cars. It's apparently cheaper that way overall.

Makes perfect sense. I missed the link to the article.

Okay....
1. That would be hard to find your car.
2. The guy that lost his keys and blocked traffic would make everyone mad.
Hate to see what the corrosion factor will be on the cars let alone the bike in about six months later. Not a clever idea.

I really don't see how those cars (or the bike) would be any more damaged from that delivery than living on or near the beach, or the shipping container many of them come here in the first place.
Do they use the catapults to unload them?

nah, the flood the forward compartments and use the Ferry ramp to drive them off.

Corrosion factor?
I take it you don't live near the ocean. Salt water is in the air all the time, any exposed metals will corrode very quickly. That's why ships are constantly being sanded & painted.

Corrosion will be the service members' problem, not the Navy's. The Navy just gets to not pay for shipping the cars. It's a clever idea from the Morale Suppression Team's point of view.
