Hi. I recently bought some of these cheap Pyramid folding pedals (http://www.amazon.com/Sunlite-Bicycle-Folding-Pedals-pair/dp/B0013GAR6M) to put on my Dahon Piccolo (which was missing one). I was disappointed to find that
A) the way they're adjusted from the factory, the bearings are really tight and they don't move well, and
B) I can't figure out how to remove the plastic dust cover over the outside bearing race -- where the locknut presumably is -- without destroying it.
Meanwhile, I've worked some auto transmission fluid in from the inside bearing race and it helps a little, but not much.
Any idea how to get in there and adjust these things? I may just cut the plastic bit to pieces and then fashion a new one, but I'd like to get it out and back in intact, if it's possible. Thanks!
