Hello,
My name is Michael Sparks,
I just bought a new Yellow Trek 2200. My wife forced me to do it, she wants to compete in triatholons and wants a riding partner for the bike portion.
She rides a QT tequilo.
Anyhow, I'm 32 and have ridden a Iron Horse MB (1992 model) for the last 12 years. I have always wanted a good road bike that I can move out on.
I guess it all started back when I was a teenager and had a 10 speed that I delivered papers with. I entered 1 race I think it was like 8-10 miles. I finished it, but didn't do very well. Though I have always wanted to compete in other races I never had a good bike.
Well now I have one. I don't necessarly want to win, just compete for fun!! (ya right):D
I also ride motorcycles, I have a BMW and ride between 10,000 and 15,000 a year. I hope to incoporate a mix of commuting on both machines to and from work. This should help me save boo coo on gas money (I drive a BIG OLE F150) that gets about 15mpg. Though I also have a VW TDI that averages about 45 mpg with a high of 57mpg!!!
I am not a total environment nut, but I do care about our environment and want to preserve it for the future, hence the reason I also sell synthetic lubricants that can reduce used motor oil with oil change intervals from 25,000 miles to over 100,000 miles. Also I am into organic gardening and market an organic fertiliztion program.
Anyhow, I hope to use my bicycle with the joy of riding in mind but also get other benifits out of it.
Lastly, I'm in the Army Reserves (13+ years) My knees cannot take the constant running required to pass a yearly PT test. So I am hopeing that I can maintaine cardio endurance with my bikeing and do as little running as possible.
I look forward to interacting with the forum!!
feel free to email me anytime, saxnflute@hotmail.com
