I love the looks of the white 2012 equipes. I currently weigh in at 250. I am in the beginning process of losing weight. I do not race and do not ride hard. Will these wheels handle my weight or am I asking for trouble.
I know there will be plenty of people that will say to get some wheels built. I still may decide to do that. But honestly looks matter to me and I just love the looks of the equipes. So those that have experience with the equipes what do you think? Also are they stronger than the aksiums?

I have a pair of Ksyrium Elites and they work great for me. I'm currently at 215, but I spent an awful lot of time around 250-260 riding some paired spoke Bontrager Race Lites. The Elites seem much more solid than the Bontrager wheels. If I was in your shoes, I'd get the Equipes and enjoy the hell out of them. I also tend to be careful avoiding potholes and the like though since I don't want to destroy my purchase. That might be something you should consider when spending actual money on wheels.

I bought some last week to replace Bontrager Race Lites as well. Three twenty mile rides this long weekend, I was more worried about below freezing temps and 20 mph winds! I didn't notice the wheels, and our roads are pretty crappy, so I guess they're ok. I weigh 220.
Anyone know what the old ones are worth? In good shape, just didn't like how they looked.

Thanks Joe for the advice. I read around a bit and have gound that some cross bike come stock with equipes on them, so they must be pretty strong.
Good advice about looking out for potholes. I will defintately do that. I will not be jumping any curbs or any of that kind of stuff either. My LBS assures me they will be fine..

Hey Sportster.....I just bought a set of 2009 close out Equips from Performance Bike.com I am about 210...about 400 miles now...no problems. I also read somewhere that they were good wheels for people over 200 lbs.... I am liking them so far...they roll so much better than my old Alex DC-19 wheels.....

Not I. But I hear they're great wheels.

My first carbon fiber bike, Kestrel Evoke SL, had Ksyrium Equipes. About two years ago I rear ended a stopped car on my bike. The frame snapped at the head tube and I broke my leg but that is another story. To my utter amazement, the Ksyrium Equipe front wheel survived. The front wheel is still true. There are no cracks, dents, or strange noises. I about about 230lbs right now and still use the Equipes on one of my bikes. It is one strong wheel. I just bought the Elites and so far they are holding up -- hopefully I will not have to crash test them like the Equipes.

have friends who ride them at your weight and have had very few issues.. Would recommend having the tension checked once a year just so they are worry free..
