Touring - Biking across country this Spring. Raising $$ for a charity: IJM. LOOKING FOR PARTNER

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Biking across the country from San Diego to Washington DC. Going from Feb 20 to the middle of April. I'm raising money and awareness towards the fight against sex trafficking and slavery worldwide. All money raised goes to an organization called the International Justice Mission (http://www.ijm.org/who-we-are). Check out my blog page HERE (http://bikingforjustice.wordpress.com/). I'm LOOKING FOR A PARTNER to go with me all the way or part of the way. All you need is a bike! Anyone interested??

I'm familiar with IJM and its mission. You've chosen a great cause and I wish you well. If you post your route you may pick up some riding partners for a portion. I may be able to join the tail end of your ride in VA, depending on the dates in April.
Just wanted to bump your thread, too.

I will need to raise about $3000 to cover my roadside needs for 45 days. That’s about a $65 a day for supplies, food, and shelter. Anything over that amount will go towards raising awareness of worldwide injustices and promoting the IJM fundraiser.
At least your honest that donations are going toward your vacation... most aren't.

Jeez. $65/day? Be travelin' in style for sure.
Let me suggest another approach. Have the charity act as your official sponsor. Let them set you up a website for donations to THEIR cause. Make some business cards, wear a shirt advertising your charity, placard the bicycle. Do what THEY suggest you do to raise THEM money, including financial acountability.
Then accept donations from people for either the charity and/or your personal expenses, depending on the donors preference.
I know a man who walked from Bellingham, Washington to Key West raising money for cancer research who followed the above formula. Worked out great for both he and the charity. Rarely stayed in a motel. I know another man who walked across the US, self funded, who raised over $100,000 for his international charity.
Another approach is for all donations to be made to the charity who then in turns sends you travel expense money.
Good luck.
