Hi
We have had an Indian summer in Ireland that has pretty much not gone away.
Don't get me wrong it's fantastic like today is as good as many early summer days.
There have been days where the temperature difference yr on yr is 20 degrees celsius.
Last year we had arctic conditions this year it's Mediterranean.
So where else have there been big changes in temp or just really mild like here?

We had that in eastern Iowa as well. Finally got our winter snow on Thursday.

It's been a warm winter across most of the US. I was biking in 45* weather last weekend, but winter finally hit this week, and it went down to single digits the last 2 nights.
This was on the radio yesterday....
"First 10 days of January, warmest, driest in U.S. history," Douglas says. "Ninety-five percent of the country [is] experiencing below-average snow conditions."
Douglas says Minneapolis is finally getting "typical January weather," at 11 degrees and wind-chill dipping below zero, but earlier this week, it was 52 degrees.
"What's weird is that 15 to 20 cities set all-time rainfall records last year, seven states had the wettest year on record," Douglas says. "We've had crazy extremes, Texas in the midst of a historic drought while it's incredibly wet east of the Mississippi."

It might be good that we, here in NE, don't get lots of snow because the rivers & streams are running very high from the wet fall. Lots of snow melt = bad flooding in the spring.

Temps have been up and down around here in NC. We were above average for a couple of weeks (but not as far above as parts of the upper Midwest) then we ran below average for a week and now are heading back closer to average...but then again you take highs and lows and add them together to get averages...;)
My contention is that weather will ALWAYS be provided! :D

Honestly it's nothing new. It's been quite some time since lakes, rivers and ponds routinely froze over in winter in the Mid-Atlantic. Sad. I enjoyed the fires and ice skating. This year is just a peak in the cycle. At least it's my belief that's the case.
Warm and dry here even given last weeks swing. Finally got some snow around here. Here's Wed @ 50F and Sat @20F. It's pretty scary when I have more miles on my bike than my plow truck in Dec & Jan.

Here in Southern California we haven't really had winter - not even what passes for SoCal winter! I normally hang up the bike and strap on my crampons for winter climbing in the local mountains, but this year I've just been staying on the bike and enjoying the 75 degree days.

The difference between this year and the last two is pretty astonishing i am 42 and don't remember anything like it nor does anyone i know.
It's good for the wildlife which where annihilated last year and my fitness, i can go out everyday so much so i may burn out.
Not good for everything, blamester. The mild winters are letting some sort of pine bark beetle thrive. We're losing a lot of timber in some parts of the country.
