From the SE Bikes website: "We teamed up with Los Angeles-based streetwear brand Crooks & Castles to offer an extremely limited edition PK Fixed Gear in a never-before-seen colorway."

why oh why does it have quote marks on the "name" of the bike?

deleterious

It looks like the result of a BMX bike raping a giraffe. And maybe it has to have quotes around the name because the real PK Ripper was an 80's BMXer and this is just some kind of ill-advised tribute.

Great thread.

Oh god I'll be glad when streetwear "collabos" are over.

This will drive you nuts: http://www.unnecessaryquotes.com/

One of my favorite lines from Futurama:

[Leela]: Oh, God! Fruit is spelled F-R-O-O-T. And it's got quotation marks around it.

I knew you'd know about that site Carleton! I "love" unnecessary quotes.

Here's another you might "enjoy": Click (http://public.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/errors.html)

Back on topic. Who wants a brown 2012 Fuji Classic?

Because the orignal PK "Ripper" BMX bike from the 70s/80s was designed forr pro racer Perry Kramer and named the Ripper (see here (http://www.pkripperheaven.com/pkripperhistory.htm)).

Thet stupid fixed gear version SE is making now has very little (aside from some aesthetics) to do with the OG model.

Yeah, but the Langster isn't called the "Langster":

the Langster derives its name from its creator - in this case Specialized employee and US track champion, Dan Langley.

Im looking forward to see more builds of the Heritage, I wish they would have tightened up the rear geometry. It looks like the rear wheel is pretty slammed and it still has 1.5" of space in the cutout... kinda defeats the purpose, oh well

Since were talking styling here, I think the fork is more egregious. Where my 30mm rake? :P

Yes. Leader's carbon fork (http://www.retro-gression.com/product/leader-s805-carbon-steel-fork) has a matte finish.

Trek '12:

out:
- "Gary Fisher Collection" Triton, Gritty are gone.
- T1 available as whole bike only, no frameset sales.
- Soho S gone.*
- 4th and 5th District gone.
- District Carbon gone.

in:
- District and Earl in new "colourways".
- *District S, which looks less like the 4th and 5th District from last year, more like the discontinued Soho S.
- T1 w/ "Bold New Graphics!"
- Marlin SS, Rig, Superfly SS w/ "BNG!"

I've got the opposite, matte 725 with shiny carbon Leader track fork. I don't lose any sleep over it.

Dood! It used to have a splash of blue on the frame! That's totally HUGE!!!

(Bold New Graphics used to be code for "We didn't do any significant thing at all with this model in the new model year, so we splashed some different paint on it and call it "New." I.e. marketing sarcasm.)

Color me extremely underwhelmed by Trek's SS/FG offerings...

I'd agree, except that the retro vintage crankset is totally out of place on that otherwise very modern bike.

Also look at how much they downgraded the spec from 2011 to 2012. From American Classic wheels and an FSA carbon track crankset to alex rims and whatever the hell crankset is on there now. I do like the color better but otherwise major downgrade.
