I am shopping for my first “hybrid” type of bike. I ride 90% street and 10% light trail (crushed limestone, hard packed dirt type of surfaces). I want a somewhat rugged bike to soak up the rough road and potholes that I ride on when I am on the street, but something that is not a heavy tank. I have looked at a few: Specialized Crosstrail Disc, Giant Roam 1 and Trek FX 7.4. I’m assuming there are differences in component longevity and ease of maintenance. Weight is a factor; I would like to spend my energy going for long distances and going fast. Overall bike size will be key. I am 6’5” with a bike inseam of 36.5”. I would appreciate any input as to brands, models and size. Thank you!
Have you considered a cyclocross bike? I'm 6'7 with a slightly larger inseam. Trek 22.5" is slightly on the small side. I know they make a 25" too.
Really, at our height, we just have to get on the bike and try it.
This is the best ive seen, and oft linked: http://www.competitivecyclist.com/za/CCY?PAGE=FIT_CALCULATOR_INTRO
not sure how it translates to hybrids though

You really can not go off the sizing chart, I am only a 31.5 inseam and a large is perfect for me riding the Roam 1, the XL only seemed just a little to large. And with your height I would think it would be to small. But it is a good bike, maybe geared a little more towards trail riding, but still nice on the roads. Richard
