Mountain Biking - 09 Stumpjumper Rear Shock

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I've got an 09 Stumpjumper with a blown rear shock (Fox/Specialized Triad). Just like many others, it lost its oil from the rebound/propedal switch. I've got the bike in the shop now and they are contacting Fox to have it rebuilt. My though is that this is the perfect time to upgrade. So here's what i've come up with in terms up upgrades
Fox Float PR23
Rockshox Monarch RT3
RockShox Monarch RT
RockShox Ario RL
The nice thing about the Traid was the Rebound/Compression(ProPedal)/Lockout, but since the shocks i've looking at don't have all 3 options i'll settle for what i can get. So has anyone upgraded their stumpjumper with good success? I stared reading off the shelf shocks can act funny at times depending on the linkage rates.
As for riding style, I'm on mostly XC single tracks with the occasional drop off of ~1.5' max. I'm only pushing 150lbs and tend to be smoother side of riding (aka not beating up on the bike). So who's got thoughts?

Personally love the float rp23, great shock.

Push'd Monarch rt3, my friend got one on his SJ after his triad exploded(P.s. Triads all exploded - shame on Fox why you want to buy another fox is beyond me). Talk to the push guy, darren i think, he knows his stuff.

I think mostly because completely avoiding the biggest names in any given sport/technology just because of one non-rectified faulty product is impractical for most people. If there's more to Fox's QC than this, please share so we can be informed, but I'm not going to tell you there isn't a Toyota worth buying just because the pedals stuck on certain Prius's.

Sure, if it was one problem.
Why does the coating on your uppers wear out so fast? Only this year did they put kashima out to try and fix that.
Why does everybody have to replace their oem seals so fast? Only this year did they put the improved skf seals on their forks.
My friend was sure as poopy giving fox the finger for un-apologetically cheating him out of $300-$400 with their crappy triad shock. I had to listen to it. Too big to fail my bottom.
I think it's important to sponsor a bit of competition in the industry otherwise you end up with a monopoly. In fact the OP should be glad he has the '09 version since the '10 stumpy and onwards only accept fox shocks, so he wouldn't even get a choice.
