For 3 years, I have been using a speedo on my bike.
I think I finally realise that the instantaneous speed display is taking out the fun out of my bike ride. The speedo usually makes you feel slow, and you actually miss out on a surprising amount of scenery around you. ...but pictures talk better than words, so look at my handywork with my speedo.

PS - (I still need distance, odo, time etc. so I decided not to destroy my speedo with a hammer, rather just cover up instantaneous speed.)

I stripped off my computer three years and my enjoyment of the ride increased tenfold. I did miss the mileage though so I picked up an nos huret fork mount odometer on ebay. Works great and I don't ever have to worry about dead batteries - it runs off a small rubber belt.

I got rid of all my bike computers several years ago. I do have one on my tourer thou.....to monitor trip distance only. The only electronic gizmo that I may bring along with me these days would be my tiny digicam.
