Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Personally, I just CRAVE steep steep downhills where your on the edge of losing your rear traction. I was on this hill, where I discovered my passion (pics will be up in a few days sorry), although it wasn't THAT steep, it was as fast as hell! That stuff really gets me pumping harder for the rest of the ride.
PS: Hardtails are so awesome on stairs. Man, when I went down a big set of stairs, my rear felt like it was going on a smooth downhill while my front was mr. rough-e-o.

Looks like your style is starting to lean towards riding steeps. Yes steeps are very fun to ride.

I am falling in love with technical climbing, and technical obsticles, such as rocks and stairs. I also love hauling ass and carving turns on steep, white knuckle descents. Oh, hell, I just love riding.

i love bumps and stuff that generally rattles the balls out of your bike...especially on a ht, its so much fun...riding down stairs is great too...and jumping stairs...i like whipping my tail around when its wet too...or snowy thats lots of fun...adrenaline is great on the stairs tho, epseically mid air...
The best adrenaline rush is coming down a DH track, on your race run. Full speed with trees half a metre each side of you, then coming out into the open to a loud crowd cheering and holding airhorns. Then to get real fired up throwing down a trick over a jump or roadgap infront of everyone.
That gives you a huge adrenaline rush and is one of the scariest yet best things you do.

For me, the adrenalin rush comes from really steep, fast, rocky descents, that are really sketchy, also, its quite a rush when you come back from an 80 mile ride knowing that you've done that, truly liberating, this combined with all the other things about mountain biking is why i love the sport so much

I know what you mean i think freerider, the rush from trials and street, or jumps comes from doing somethuing you didnt know you could do... now THATS a cool feeling

Yup! it is certainly a severe  rush; I'm a steeps junkie, too. :D
I think there are two major parts to the rush and the first is frequently more intense than the second.
1. The Approach. I'm coming up to the launch point, pulling my butt back as far as possible over the back tire, making sure my feet, fingers, everything is in position to go for it. I can still bail on it. Should I go for it? ..... Should I pull out? ..... Should I commit? .... Go for it!!!
2. The Committment. Steep downhills are often 'do or die'; I either make it to the bottom in one peice or I'm expecting someone to come with a rake to sweep me and my bike into a little pile. Sometimes it's like, 'Man, I'm going really fast and this is really steep but I'm like on a rail.' Sometimes, it's like, 'I just passed the point of being in control and now I realize I am totally out - of - control and just hangin' on like I'm gripping the fin on a rocket!'.
Either way; you are right. Steep downhills are a total rush and the hills always call out to lure us back with their siren song:
'Come hither, come hither! I promise you intensity; I promise you your brain and nervous system will scream in terror and delight; I promise the earth will rush by in a blur as you are solely concentrated on the immediate nano-second; I promise you will get off your bike when you've made it to the bottom of the run and kiss the ground in celebration of life. I promise you will want to do it again, tomorrow.' :D

I think a great rush is doing something youve never done before.
There was this one steep DH section in my last race that had a tough entrance, and a sharp turn left, then one to the right, and another one that veered to the right. It was very rooty, and had a bit of slickrock, not to mention the entrance. Never cleaned it at all last year, first few tries, not this year either. One run I was just spot on, and cleaned it without even slowing down. I just got to the bottom, and was so happy......
Of course, during my race run I came into it way too fast, and endoed onto the large slab of slick rock, having a bike land on me just because of one silly thin stump. Must have made some spectators happy though!

Several close encounters. Once I was at a school in the play yard. The ground was made out of wood chips instead of sand so that was good. Anyways, I cycled over them, hit the rim of the box, stall, do a mini lurch forward to only to see a 3 foot drop down.
So it was like this:
0___0
The 0's are my wheels and the __'s are the rim of the wood chip box. I was stalling there. Then I decided to go for the drop. Pedal to the metal baby. I try to wheelie off, come a bit short, my expression must've been priceless. My first words were: Oh jebus.
My bashguard takes the cake on the wooden edge of the rim, and my front wheel is hanging off the 3 foot drop. I jump to the side (aka BAIL) and my bike falls forward and then sideways. Nothing broken.
Then there was this time when I decided to ride down some narrow stairs (handrails on the edge of the stairs). The rails are like numberous bars going vertically, then a looooooong stretched oval accross the bars. (see the goddang pic for details)
I went down the stairs, first thing that happens is that my bars are hovering in the right side's oval. See the thing is, if I keep going my bars will hit the end of the oval, and I will be tossed off the bike. I pull to the left, only to go into the LEFT oval!! Right, left, right, left. I yelp, pull it straight RIGHT at the LAST moment. And I ride out of it. Scared to death.
Still fun.

Haha. Paint diagrams always help a complicated story.

That diagram didn't really help clear it up for me...
Stairs are somewhat scary to me; I haven't wiped out on any but I'm bound to.
I tend to lean forward when I'm going down the set, and usually when I get to the bottom, my back wheel is up in the air, which isn't good if there's something else to ride over right after the stairs.

the first time i went down a set of stairs clipped in my pedals, i thought i was gnna die for sure...i know one day im gonna tumble down the stairs with my bike still attached to my feet...

Basically madman, those types of rails are on BOTH sides of the stairs and the handlebars get caught in the holes. If you hit the end of the loop, then your entire front wheel turns to the side, launching you off your bike!
As for stairs, always lean back. I just LOVE stairs.
Another thing, theres a long not so steep hill followed by a 2 m flat area then a sudden steep hill into a park thats only like 5 meters long. (see diagram). Yesterday, I pulled a really short manual off the steep area but alas I caught no air. Today, I pulled a LOOOOONG manual as I did NOT catch air but my front stayed up as I went down the steep hill. Really REALLy fun. At first I was thinking : Oh crap Im gonna break my ribs (Losing balance on my manual). Then I land the manual and I'm "damn thats one hella crazy piece o' riding."
