General Cycling Discussion - What kind of glasses do you wear???

Shopping for some new sunglasses and was just wondering what everyone else on here is wearing. The shear myriad of choices is nearly overwhelming but im hoping maybe someone has something ive overlooked thus far.....

I have some new balance glasses that were $25 :/

I hear Serfas sunglasses are good. I have cheap $20 sunglasses from the LBS. I actually really like them, because they fit my narrow head.

Bolle Parole system with Prescription Adapter. When you wear glasses you tend to be limited to wearing them, Sunglasses with an RX adapter or stick contacts on your eyeballs so you can pretend to be an average 20/20 sighted person and wear whatever you choose..:thumb::D

I've been fine using a $8 pair of 3M safety sunglasses, or Arena Flakjaks when the weather isn't so nice.

Prescription Wiley X p-17s with transitions

Regular prescription glasses with clip on sunglasses...if I remember to take them with me, the sunglasses that is.

Got a $20 pair of polarized glasses with magnafied reading section at the bottom from Wal-Mart. They're actually listed as "fishing sunglasses" but work great for riding.

Oakley Radars! Thinking about some Jawbones, I like being able to change the lenses, both do so, and have had no problems with the Radars.

Love my Rudy Project Horus with polarized lens and another set of clear lenses

Scattante Matrix from Performance. Comfortable and they never slip down on my nose like some glasses have. 3 sets of lenses. I prefer the grey smoked, but also keep the clear ones in my Camelbak for when I'm riding at dusk. Resaonably priced as well, often on sale for $30.

I have a bunch of sport-bike specific sunglasses, but I keep coming back to Maui Jim Sports, or MJS. Love the quality, weight and they never slip. Good on and off the bike. But, ... pricey.

I almost always wear Cudas polycarbonate safety glasses (search Amazon.com for "cudas safety glasses"). Under $10, good coverage, blocks UV, and hey, I need safety glasses for work anyway. I usually wear the clear ones, but they also have yellow-tint if you like that, and the dark ones are VERY dark and would be good for super-bright environments like summer desert.

If they made a polarized medium-grey one, I'd be on cloud nine. But for about $7, I'll take what I can get.

Are you looking for a cycling-specific sunglasses or any sunglasses? What are the specific requirements that made you ask the question? Normally people just go and buy whatever looks at them. Since you decided to ask, you must have something that prevents you from doing exactly that. What is it?

Er... Yeah, kinda... When people ask questions it means that they "aren't happy" with not knowing the answer. When people buy food it is because they "aren't happy" with being hungry. When people go to sleep at night it is because they "aren't happy" staying awake. Basically anything can be expressed in terms of "people aren't happy". To me it sounds bizarre, since I prefer to express myself differently, but if you insist I'll try the "not happy" approach. So here goes:

In this particular case I'm indeed "not happy" with a question since it is not clear to me: I'm trying to find out whether it is 1) "help me choose glasses" kind of question or 2) "9-year-old girls having a chit-chat in the park" kind of question. When something is not clear to me, I prefer to ask, instead of jumping to conclusions. Oh, sorry... I meant: I'm "not happy" jumping to conclusions. I know that some people get irritated ("not happy"?) when they hear serious questions instead of sunny giggling in their morning-yap style chat, but that's just life.

The broader the question the more varied the answers...

I wear Tifosi Tyrants. I am half Japanese, and the features of my nose and cheekbones are asian, so I have a difficult time fitting most sunglasses; the bridge of my nose is too low and they slip down and hit my cheekbones. The Tifosis are nice because they have adjustable nose pads, and interchangeable lenses are nice. I spent like $65 on my first pair, but have realized that you can order them for like $35 on ebay, which really isn't bad. I keep breaking/losing them, so I have a large supply of various lenses, which has sort of successfully locked me into this model frame.

I'd love to try asian fit Oakleys but no one ever has them in stock in a real store. I definitely need to try something like that out before dropping ridiculous buco bucks.

I also want prescription sunglasses (usually use contacts). The sportsrx ones look OK.

Well, I am glad it wasn't all for nothing...
I am kinda fanatical about the Wiley X. I get em from a company called RX-Safety.com. They look sharp, stay on good enough that I use em for all kinds of high impact activities, are priced very reasonably for prescription shades, are ANSI z87 approved and lots of special forces types use em, so they MUST make me look super tough. Well probably not the last one.

After seeing this thread and seeing Yo Spiff's good review on his Scattante sunglasses, I bought a pair of Scattante sunglasses today. I got the Scattante Mestre at my local Performance shop for $30. LOVE them! I love the different lenses that they come with. I got them in white.

I wear photochromic standard prescription glasses. I had a bad habit of losing or breaking clip-on sunglasses and prescription sunglasses, so having a pair of standard prescription glasses that I wear all the time able to act as sunglasses in sunlight was nice. :)

Ditto. Unfortunately, though, people wear small sized lenses, not giant 70s style aviator glasses. I'm not looking forward to riding in the rain. I'm going to see if I can find some cheap safety glasses or goggles at Harbor Freight this weekend.

I had two pairs of Performance "CAT-1" house brand sunglasses that I liked but both are kaputt now after 5 years of use.
I have one pair of Nashbar brand ones as my main commuter set that are okay for the price, and also a pair of Tifosis for nicer weather riding and another pair of new Performance brand glasses which I have a clear lens on for dark riding. For early AM riding I also have a set of cheapo yellow glasses.
I just recently got two very different Oakleys for a total of $100. Never really owned any shades this nice before. I'll see if they really make a difference.

Love my Rudy Project Rydons with the RX adaptor. Bought them from Wiggle for less than $100 for the frames and 3 sets of lens's, this huge digital sports watch and a case. Went to my local optician and had the RX part made for about $200.

i prefer clear lenses. i buy untinted shooting glasses, silencios. american optical makes nice safety glasses, also in tints.

a friend wears 'scrip safety glasses with mesh shields on the sides and clip-on shades.

Original KD's, either clear or yellow lenses. for $7 i wear them in the shop and on the bike.

i'll ride w/o a helmet before i'll ride w/o eye protection.......
