Hi all,
Here's me latest $48 find. Pretty cherry condition Peugeot Triathlon, Y712 43300.
It has Reynolds 501 tubing, a full Shimano 105 6-speed double drivetrain, 105 BioPace chainset,
and PD-6401 pedals. Anyone know what year it is (ballpark)?

Circa 1987-1989. If you want to know for positive, check the date codes on the Shimano components and decypher using the info on http://www.vintage-trek.com/component_dates.htm . BTW, is it a Canadian or French manufactured Peugeot? There should be a sticker on the seat tube to indicate this. Good luck!

Thanks, I wouldn't have thought to look at a Trek site for date info.
The cranks have LG on them and the brake calipers have KJ. That puts
the components 87-88 so the bike is likely late 88 or early 89 model.
T-Mar, your good. The chain stay has a sticker that says "Made in France"
to I guess that's where it was made. The other clue is the Reynolds 501 sticker
is in French.

Hey my first road bike! still have the frame in my basement. Good find for the money. Really liked the internally routed cables on the bars, shame i wrecked mine.

In the early 1980s, the first digit of the serial number was the last digit of the year. If that pattern held into the late 1980s, then your frame was made in 1987.

I have a Peugeot triathlon: 1987? or 88? with reynolds 501 main tubes. Does anyone out there know what the fork and stays might be made of?

With thanks,

RK
