The 2 test rides I've taken tell me this is going to be a really fast and comfortable bike. Should climb like a goat too.

That's fantastic! How did you remove the paint and polish the chrome?

I removed most of the decals with a blow-dryer and some goo-gone. The others were removed by the paint shop during paint prep. Likely sanded smooth and over-painted. The chrome was polished with Blue Magic. It does have the tiny grooves from the factory when it was originally meant to be beneath paint. But, to me, a little chrome is better than no chrome.

Love the color. Wet paint, I take it? Was the rear brake bridge already drilled for a recessed nut or did you do that yourself?

It is wet paint. The people I work with offer a vast array of powder coats but I'm fond of wet paint. I picked the shade, amount of metallic tone, and the amount of gloss. I wanted it semi flat.

The brakes were originally recessed as pictured. So was the seat bolt, which has been a paint to tighten and loosen.

Heh ... "2 test rides" must have sounded odd ... I need to file the inside of the front brake caliper arms to raise the pads another millimeter or so ... then I will take it on a real distance ride. I don't want to bomb any hills until that is properly aligned and perfect.

I'll be riding this bike on the 3 State 3 Mountain challenge in a few months ... century ride over 3 mountains in the Chattanooga TN area. It's geared like a mountain bike.

Oh neat! so "touring" gearing... I didn't find the test ride comment odd either, I actually happen to have a large paved driveway with a shale section as well, and a wood chip/dirt path so I test ride the crap out of my bikes until I'm satisfied before they ever see the road! And why the need for filing, the mounting isn't just a hair off?

It's hard to see in the photos .... but the front is about 75% on the machined side wall. It's got a ton of stopping power right now but it needs tweaking to not wear oddly. It's a detail thing. I need to cap the cables but am waiting until I re-mount the front.

I also have a headbadge I'll be mounting. Just trying to find the proper thickness of double-stick tape.

Can't stand a nekkid steerer tube? I really dig that clean look it has now personally, but that doesn't matter. As long as you get the desired result you want :D, more pics when done right?

I'm not sure what a 'nekkid' steerer tube' is .. If you're talking about the paint seen through the badge hole ... then yeah, they painted it up to the threads. Rust protection in theory.

Those ore No23 Lyotards from my Mercian ... ultimately this bike will sport clip-in Look pedals or GR9 MKS with cages for town.
