Anyone listening to Isis' "Panopticon"?

I am specifically asking fixed gear riders.

The word brings to mind something from "Dr. Who".

Yes - great album. Though I'm quite fond of Celestial. Mayo - if you like them, check out Pelican (more of the sludgecore, they're from here - did some work for their other project Tusk).

Since you've mentioned this and Panda Park of late - I've considered the fact that there's certain elements in that and other music (by that I mean of the repetitive, epic, longer nature) that seems to fit with riding fixed. I usually listen to the repetitive groove oriented music when riding - other bands I think also fit the bill:

Explosions in the Sky
Maserati
Turing Machine
The Mercury Program

I suppose throw in no vocals as well (since the above four don't have any).

Here's a legal mp3 download of Turing Machine if you're interested. My favourite from them and a great fix groove song. - http://jadetree.com/mp3/Turing_Machin-Flip-Book_Osc.mp3

from an Amazon review of Panopticon:

"Panopticon is a great friend of mine as well as Oceanic. I do yoga to both albums... 2 of only 4 I can truely feel have that cerebral linear flow enough to help out with the pineal activity of yoga and meditation."

:D

I should also mention Tool... which that review brings to mind with all their (pseudo?)mathematics, etc, etc.

i prefer mosquito control and celestial, but regardless, isis has been top of my list for riding music for years...

other bands along the vein have been mentioned, but i'll also add old man gloom, hot black desiato, and eyehategod...

So i'm looking for this thread from fixed gear/ss and i can't find it, not even a "moved". So then i check mayo's profile and use his recent posts to find it, low and behold, it is in the lounge. Also his post said at one time please dont move it, mayo did u edit that urself?

Now that i have navigated the maze and i am able to discuss this post with my fellow fixed riders, I downloaded some isis and neurosis and i have to say i wish they wouldn't sing, Turing Machine and Explosions in the sky i like!

i used to listen exclusively to death (cryptopsy, cephalic carnage, at the gates etc.) and black metal [mayhem, darkthrone, morbid (dead's band previous to mayhem), emperor etc.] and can honestly say, less any pretension, that mosquito control is, in my opinion, the heaviest album ever recorded... well, maybe just a small bit of pretension, heh.
