I just sold my road bike for $450... and spent the money on golf clubs.

Despite my Scottish ancestry, I do not participate in the game of "Gents Only, Ladies Forbidden." (Yes, GOLF is an acronym.) You are right, Bob, I won't forgive you.

That is just sad! Golf isn't even a sport.:D

I nearly sold my road bike in 1998 when I was riding my MTB exclusively, I thought I would never ride it again, as it turned out I haven't ridden that MTB since the end of 99 and the road bike gets ridden plenty. I hope you don't regret your sale/purchase.

CHEERS.

John, I think the acronym was made up later. The word 'golf' is a corruption of 'kolf' which was a Dutch game.

Gus, no I'm not bikeless. I still have my hybrid.

Golf isn't even a sport

Neither is bicycling. Golf is a game, bicycling is an activity. Only COMPETITIVE golf and COMPETITIVE bicycling are sports. It irritates the hell out of me when cycling magazines refer to bicycling as a 'sport'. They are so biased that they can't comprehend the idea of bicycling being more than just racing and training.

Only when you have acquired your recumbent tricycle golf cart will you be able to stay in His good graces.

What is, "GOLF?"

I ride my bike. Bikes have clubs.

Next you will write that you sold your computer and are using the money for a tennis racket, and are leaving this forum.

For shame.

I had one attempt at golf. I was 16 years old and my Dad wanted to teach me the "finer points" of the game. After 9 holes I gave up and told him I'd be in the clubhouse waiting for him to finish his game.

I discovered the joys of cycling (as an adult) when I was 40 years old. Sure wish I would have found it sooner 'cause I'm having a GREAT time.

I can't believe you sold any kind of bike to buy golf clubs. I'd donate it to charity or the junk man first.

As has so eliquently been expressed, Golf is not a sport!

The question is, "What kind of clubs? :D

My wife won't let me spend $400 on a new set of irons, but she gave me the go-ahead to spend $2000 on a new bike (after I spent $1000 on a new one some 8 months ago). :)

The only thing I see good about golf, is annoying my brother when we get to drinking and start mowing his yard with the clubs. AS long as you don't believe in decaf coffee or caffiene free coke, or near beer I won't label you a pinko communist.

Suggestion, try not to play bike\golf polo and get the clubs stuck in your spokes

Actually I sorta understand...

Golf can be addictive. You go out there and you hack and hack, curse and curse, throw a club or 2, get a warning from the ranger and then you hit one just right and you forget everything else and believe that maybe just maybe you're getting the hang of the game.

Then the process repeats but the 1/2 doz. or so good shots is what you remember. The 90-100 not so good ones are dim memories by the time you get to the clubhouse.

Maybe that's not you but it's certainly me.:D

Good luck.

What's next? An SUV???

hey, Hey..suv's are ok, as long as your using them as something besides a status symbol. I've long since grown used to them on the road.

When was the last time you swore at your bike as you threw it into the lake?

Good luck with the new pursuit, it is better than sitting on the couch eating pizza.
