Is there a difference between LX and XT V-brakes, besides $20? By difference I mean in performance and ease of adjusting. Are the pads interchangable between LX, XT and XTR? Are XTRs really better pads? Thanks.

The big difference is the pads. XT uses a cartridge type pad, LX uses a post mounted pad. The XT's are easier to change, you don't have to readjust.

As far as I know, the pads are the same compound.

If you want better performance than LX, go with Avid. They perform much better.

Agreed. Do a search here on Avid you'll see they come highly reccomended regardless of brake type.
