Classic & Vintage - Is it alive? Is it alive?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Robbie, I'm not so sure I'd be happy. Further down the page is this description:
Electric Pedal Assist Bicycles, Comfort Sport Bicycles
I'd have never thought you'd be so excited about that category of bicycles!

Let's face it Robbie: you really lust for a Sun Drifter (http://www.sunbicycles.com/product_detail.php?short_code=Drifter+3&cl1=BIKE+PATH). :p

I don't know that I like where this is going...
They're alive in the same way that Schwinn and Mongoose are alive.

Just means the old ones are getting more like Paramounts every day.

I could get a backrest for it and then mount it on the back of an RV...

They already make them - sort of - in another place, different era, same dimension. Not bad for a brand named after a novel about Romans (or so the story goes...).

They might just use those two categories to (re?)enter the market and then add other bike lines later.

Might have been "check a box" type categories and those two covered all bicycles or something.

It would be great to see a modern take on the Centurion brand, but we all know how these things work. The vintage Centurion brand that RobbieT’s has single-handedly increased the used bike market value of, to the chagrin of the rest of us, is not this start-up. However, I’ve noticed a surprisingly large number of fresh and interesting new boutique bike companies putting forth retro-steel bikes. I recently referenced Tim Neenan starting a new company reintroducing the Specialized Sequoia and Expedition.

There seems to be something going on here. Small, quality bike designers seem to be popping up all over the place. Who says American creativity and workmanship is dead? Not me.:thumb:

All it takes is one trip to NAHBS, and it's easy to see how one could get drawn into it.
I told Curtis Dobbins of Cycles Margeurite that "one day, I'll sell all my bikes, and you can make me a frame."
He laughed.
