I have a friend who will be visiting Kyoto for a few days in the week of February 2 to 11. He plans to do some cycling and would like to know about riding in the city and countryside (he mentioned tea farms). How are the traffic, road conditions, drivers’ attitudes, and other safety factors, and how is the weather?

Any other suggestions, like where to rent a bike, what to see, etc?

Kyoto is a sister city of Boston since 1959 and I certainly would be glad to reciprocate for any visitors to Boston. :D
