Classic & Vintage - VO leather saddles?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Does anyone have any first hand experience with Velo Orange's leather saddles?
I'm seriously contemplating getting one of these:

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

I have two of them, neither of which is completely broken in yet so i can't tell you much about their durability. I'm pretty slim and my modern saddles are all 130mm which is a fair bit narrower than these but i find these FEEL narrower, the sweet spot, for my sit bones is quite small, if i move back a touch i feel the metal support underneath, if i move forward a touch my sitbones slide off onto the skirt and all the pressure is on the perinium, having said that i'm quite comfortable when sitting low on the bike.....upright not so much. All this is subjective of course, saddles are very individual items.
They do look pretty nice on the bike however and the price is way less than the Brooks swallow which they're based on.

I have the model 6 on my road bike, the Model 8 on my city bike and have used the model 5 before. Only the model 5 required any break in, but I think it was just too tight from the factory. Once I loosened it up, it was fine. I've had no problems with any of them, but I have to say the Brooks B-67 I have on my touring bike, is more comfortable.

I had a Model 1, which I didn't like because it was too narrow. I got a Model 3 on a commuter--and I dunno, I don't really care for it. It's harder and it has a textured surface so it's not as comfortable and it's not as nice looking. I kinda wish I had just bought a Brooks on sale instead.
At post #15 of thread http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php/792854-My-Daughter-s-quot-New-quot-UO8? there's a pic of the $50 used VO "Swallow" I put on the daughter's UO-8. Looks nice, seems to be good quality. Long-term durability, don't know. We think it's comfortable but that is so personal, it doesn't mean anything for you. At the end of the day, a pretty Brooks Swallow will get stolen off a bike where I live, so for a racy leather saddle on an around-town, working-for-a-living kind of bike, I think it might be the VO or nothing. For a more babied bike, I'd figure the difference in cost is negligible over the 10+ years that the saddle will last you, and I would get the Brooks, or maybe a Berthoud (my next saddle, I hope).

I asked similar question about 1 month ago. I was looking a a B17 vs VO Mod 3. The Consensus opinion was:
Do NOT waste the $$ on VO, use Brooks.

I just bought the same saddle but in Zimbale brand because of the copper colored rivets and rails. I haven't ridden it yet but I can post my review when I do ride it in a few weeks. Gotta get the bike built up first. It's nice looking and heavy as all get-out. It looks nicely constructed.
