General Cycling Discussion - cycling clothes

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Where do you all buy your MTB clothes? I need some new shorts and a few jerseys, but they are so darn expensive. Just wondering what some of your favorite websites or retail stores might be.

Performance Bike (http://www.performancebike.com) is usually pretty inexpensive.
Yeah, I've ordered from Performance a bunch of times. I use Pricepoint, Nashbar, Webcyclery, and CambriaBike as well. Just looking for new ideas.
Thanks.
Try your LBS first. You can try things on and it supports the bike shop.
If you really want to shop online try:
Nashbar (http://www.nashbar.com/)
Performance (http://www.performancebike.com/)
Velowear (http://www.velowear.com/shop/home.asp?inexid=444XMA8ORH)
PricePoint (http://www.pricepoint.com/)
Bikejerseys.com (http://www.bestbikesinc.com/index.html)
Longcycle (http://www.longscycle.com/)
At the LBS's I go to, clothes prices are high and selection is limited. I give my LBS plenty of business, but when it comes to clothes, they just don't have much to choose from.
Thanks, Ron, for the links.

I usually wait until I'm putting in an order for some other things, and I'll add a jersey or a pair of shorts. That way it's not so detrimental to the wallet. My most common place for clothing is Pricepoint. I have been getting pretty good deals lately at the LBS (last years stuff on close-out) so it's been awhile since I bought clothing on-line. I did however, just score on a pair of Fox Racing Push Shorts for $35.00. I called them the day after I ordered my pair to add a second pair and they were sold-out! Right place right time!
Whatcha looking for specifically?

Sad, but true...I work in a shop and sometimes find bike clothes for less than I can buy them at www.sierratradingpost.com or www.reioutlet.com . Color and size selection is not always the greatest, as these are closeout deals.
As long as you give *most* of your business to the local shop; i say bargain-hunt without guilt.
I went to my local 'roadie' shop the other day, and looked at the jerseys. Hmmm....a bright yellow Credit Lyonnaise jersey, a polka-dot 'king of the hills' jersey-what the hey?? Did the Tour De France stop by? Does anybody (other than Nashbar, Performance, etc) stock a plain, solid color road jersey?

As I've posted many times, try Mountain Equipment Coop (http://www.mec.ca). Shipping is free in Canada, and even if you're not in canada, it's hard to beat a US$17.77 jersey...
velocipedio,
I finally checked out MEC's site. They do have some reasonable prices compared to some of the US mail order thieves. I joined up. For $5.00 Canadian(3.20US) lifetime membership it is a deal. I have belonged to REI here in the states for longer than I care to divulge(similar to MEC), but it looks like MEC has better pricing on the stuff I was interested in. I finally found a place that sells chamois pads by themselves for some of my worn out shorts!
Thanks for continually mentioning it. Check them out everyone!

Same way around here. The shops, except for Performance which has a store here, only carry wannabe gear.

Just a couple of simple jerseys (I like solid colors) and a couple pairs of plain baggy shorts with liners. I just don't feel like paying $75 for each item, but I suppose I will if I have to.
I visited a Performance shop in Philadelphia last year while on a business trip. That was cool...lots of plain clothes at excellent prices. I live in Connecticut, and the Philly Performance store is the closest one.

Mainly road orientated, but www.probikekit.com is cheap with good quality clothing.
