Could be bad quality shorts. You're going commando in cycling shorts right? Wearing underwear+cycling shorts is all bad news.

most cycling appearal should have sweat-wicking fabric, as in your sweat wicks to the outside like oil would a candle and evaporate very fast with headwind so you're constant drynessness

Bike shorts wick sweat. If youre getting all wet in there somethig is wrong or you got a sweaty butt

Btw, talking about your junk isnt weird in cycling

I'm notorious for being sweaty. I was diagnosed( by myself) with sfs, Sweaty Foot Syndrome.. it was tragic, i even diagnosed a few of my friends with it too. I did however find a cure for the sfs. BUT let's not get off track here. When i'm biking, i'm biking hard so sweat is gonna happen, but that's not the original topic of all this... I'll give my shams another chance today and if i get mad ride up then I'm gonna go to sports authority and pick up some UA

If you don't want to wear bibs (I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO!), boxer-briefs > boxers as far as bunching and riding up is concerned.

Just get medium quality bibs, you don't be sorry.

Bibs will still be better than anything made of cotton. The padding is there to reduce chaffing more than cushion

Athletic boxers... if you can deal with cotton.

Nike Pro compression shorts are tight-fitting and don't ride up, if you don't like padding.

This. I own more Nike Pro Combat gear than the University of Oregon football team.

Don't get ones with lots of padding. Or gel padding. And don't get ones that are loose fitting. You don't want the chamois moving around on you. That causes numbness and saddle sores.

I got 2 sets of these last summer at $60 each.

http://s7d5.scene7.com/is/image/Specialized/19945?$Display$

for when I'm doing CX or doing singletrack with my sons.

Otherwise, I'm always in Volcom shorts with UA warm weather boxers (the medium length - the long is too long and the short rolls up on my thighs and bunches near my pelvic bone); American Eagle loose fit low rise - same drawers. Never chaffing, never an issue with sweat even when I'm hustling.

I'm riding a broken in Brooks B17, for saddle relevance.

expensive shorts and bibs are way better than the cheap stuff. don't ever buy cheap stuff. it's like saddles, you're just throwing your money away if you're spending less than 40 on it.

In terms of boxers, I have a pair of bike shorts I use for a spinning class I take and I wear Champion boxer briefs under them. Costco often carries them and I have also purchased them from ross/marshalls/cheaper stores and they're my everyday undies too!

Underwear under your bike shorts kind of defeats the purpose of bike shorts. Reasons:

most cycling appearal should have sweat-wicking fabric, as in your sweat wicks to the outside like oil would a candle and evaporate very fast with headwind so you're constant drynessness

?

Straight from nashbar, currently at $25, and rarely (if ever) > 40:

I own four.

also i don't think there is anything inherently wrong with cheap bibs. ive never paid full msrp for a kit due to collegiate/club deals, and it has all been bottom of the barrel pactimo, voler, champ sys and PI stuff.

currently on squadra stuff. the pad is so huge that it feels like a friggin' diaper compared to anything else but with three free kits + skinsuit and winter gear (again all free :D) I can't complain.

Go to Target, they have compression shorts for $15 that have mesh in the groin and inner thighs. Super comfy and vented.
