Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I could find this out myself if i ripped one of my bikes apart but i really don't want to. I have been looking to replace the rings on my Nuovo record crankset and have not turned out too much luck. (really expensive) but anyways, is it possible to interchange rings on these campys. These are the rings i was planning on trying to use.

Stronglight 104 drilled out rings.

Will it work?

Figure out the BCD on your cranks (most likely 144BCD) and buy new rings with the same BCD.

I've used 144bcd Sugino rings, way cheaper.

BCDs have to match or it's a nogo.

The BCD on your Nuovo Record crank is not 116.

Nuovo/Super Record is 144 BCD. The inner ring does not get smaller than 41 teeth.

No, Stronglight 104 is 122mm BCD, while Nuovo Record is 144mm BCD.

There have been some fairly "cheap" used rings on ebay of late.

That's a peg, BG. It's not mounted with the peg behind the crankarm.

I know you shot better than Marksman....so you must be getting old.

I have two 42t campys, in desperate needs for a 52t!

No, it's the peg to prevent the chain from jamming between the arm and the ring. The ring just isn't oriented properly to place it behind the crank arm.

You can usually find lots of new / NOS 144 BCD 3/32" rings, especially in 52 or 53. The 42s usually are in the most demand.

www.loosescrews.com (http://www.loosescrews.com) usually has new 144 BCD rings for about $30-40, depending on whether or not they are on sale at the moment. Rocket rings are decent (for example).

There were/are literally a jillion (OK, maybe only a half-jillion) other companies that made 144 rings and/or 144 cranks. Sugino, TA/Tevano, Suntour, Gipiemme, Mavic, Specialized (= Sugino, usually), Stronglight, Ofmega/Avocet, SR (Royal, etc.), Edco, Nervar, OMAS, Willow, and probably more that I can't recall right now.

I second David, there. Another inexpensive possibility with NR cranks are SR (Sakae Ringyo) rings as they too are 144.
