Folding Bikes - Oh Oh...N+1...strikes again! (Dahon Content)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

My bride called from the local church thrift shop where she was dropping off a load of stuff from our early spring cleaning (the ground hog lied). They have a red and a blue folder, she sends cellphone pictures. Okay mid to late 80's Dahon III's, how much...make an offer...dunno have to see them. So the manager lets her bring them home for me to inspect. Looks like I am adding a couple more small wheeled bikes to the fold. I think that brings the total to 7 or 8 small wheelers along with 25+ large bikes.:innocent:
Does anybody know what year they used the Sachs Torpedo 3 speed? The red one has the Sturmey Archer AW dated 10 87, most likely making it a 1988 model. They are in okay condition and need some TLC, both are missing the rear fender, no racks and the seats are replacements.
Any idea of what I should have paid? Already made my donation, just want to make sure it was large enough.;)
Pictures as soon as I find the charger base for the camera.

Why do I never find these sort of things? Well almost never. . . I did get my 80's Fuji Supreme for $10, about broke my hand reaching for my wallet that day. Please post pics when you can.
Congrats on the new folders. New bikes always bring joy. It is nice when an old bikes get a new chance.

Here be the pictures, I borrowed my wife's camera, when I went to the shop I found the power cord for mine, it was powering up my mini speakers
The red one is in better shape, it appears to be a 1987/88, based mainly on the hub date. The Blue appears several years older, not in as a good a shape, the tubes are smaller diameter too. The blue one has a Sachs Torpedo 3 speed looks similar to the SRAM T3.
These are quick and ugly shots, beauty shots will come later. I am trying to determine what year the blue one is. I also need to know if the current Dahon SKS 16" fenders will fit or not.

I was wondering about that...I will order a set and see what happens. Any idea on the rack? I may go ahead and order it just to see if I can make it fit. I am not adverse to a bit of site engineering to make something fit. I have a huge collection of p-clips and assorted hardware.
Yes they are 16" wheels tires are 47-305.
