Blizard warning for Denver Metro Area

IF (repeat IF) the warning comes true, this will be the biggest February storm in Denver in recorded history. Up to 28 inches of snow. February is normally a dry month for us. This is revenge for the fact that I have been able to ride most days this winter.

"... Blizzard Warning now in effect until 5 am MST Saturday...

* timing... snow... heavy at times will continue through Friday
night... then gradually decrease by Saturday morning.

* Snow accumulations... total accumulations of 18 to 28 inches
can be expected.

* Winds/visibility... north winds will increase to 20 to 30 after
midnight and continue on Friday... with gusts up to 40 mph.
Blizzard conditions will develop after midnight and continue
through Friday evening with visibilities near zero at times. "

Saw the projection maps last night while watching the Weather Channel. Y'all please stay safe, I know that you handle these yearly but, please don't get in any bad situations. Indoor trainer, sufferfest and gym time now.

And if it is anything like here, the stores have been stripped bare of milk, bread, and eggs.
Good luck.

We are expecting our first and probably only snowfall this weekend. Queues at the petrol stations were horrific this afternoon. After two bad long hard winters no-one is taking a chance. It will be gone by Monday in any case but I can't see what the fuss is going to be over 4" max of the white stuff.

If she lives in Estes, she is tough. This is only a passing storm. The sun will come out and it will melt. She will be fine.

Not much in Ft. Collins -- I think I've gotten a few inches. But a friend of mine up in Rist Canyon (ie not far away, but higher up), has already gotten 2 feet of snow.

Holy Smurf! I thought they only did that in the Boston area. People started doing this after the legendary Blizzard of '78. There are also runs on gas stations, and.. Laundromats. Yep, people are worried that they will not be able to do laundry.

This winter has been very mild for us, but last year, it was storm after storm. At this point last year, we had about 60 inches of snow on the ground. The good news was that people hardened up to the storms. Anything less than a foot was considered kid stuff.

Don't forget, it's milk, bread, eggs, and ,,, D and AA Cell batteries.

To folks in Denver, Stay safe.

No problems here--gorgeous ride today in the low to mid 60s--too bad I have a bad cold but I had to ride over the Oakland/Berkeley hills!

I may regret it tomorrow!

Enjoy the cold weather and the snow and stay safe!

We always said this happens every time the weatherman issues a "French toast alert".

Looks like things are slowing down a bit. I've snowblowed once, and it pretty much drifted back in. About 12-15 inches so far.

Tonight

Saturday

I walked out into the drift - over 3 feet, and cleaned the satellite dish of snow. All works now.

That event is headed our way across I-80 tonight. We could easily get eight inches of snow. Looks like my Seasonal Affective Order is in serious danger this weekend.

Now where is that chili I bought?

Yes, it really wasn't anything like the forecast, which is far too typical. However, I do have about 18 inches of snow to blow this am.

the legendary Blizzard of '78.
....

To folks in Denver, Stay safe.

I remember the Blizzard of '78. I was a kid back then and I remember making snowforts in the huge drifts. I was living in Essex County, MA back then.

On Friday I think all of my co-workers in the Denver branch office ended up working from home.

So here in Colorado (western Colorado) I rode my mtn bike in the morning and then took my road bike out in the afternoon. It was close to 50f today.
We have had a dry and mild winter here in the west slope.

This is about the amount of snow we have had overnight. 5 am here and I am up--So excited about the snow:innocent:

But morning news on the TV and Britain is at a standstill. 4" in the south east and motorways blocked and a strong advice not to drive today.

Looks like the time to get the Mountain bike out.

Very mild winter so far here in NE, with some decent riding days. What's funny is that the Boston area TV weather people are going totally nuts. They have nothing (so far) to scream and yell about.

There are people who love a hard winter. I knew a guy years ago, who moved to Bangor Maine, because the Boston winters weren't tough enough. Go figure.

Left snow and miserable winter weather back in 1978.
Moved from the snowbelt in Michigan to the sunbelt in Arizona.
Have not regretted it.
Now, where did I put my sunshine shovel . . . ?

New bike collected Thursday- built up same day but a bit of ICE around on the road. Just the residual snow left but it is cold.

Looks like if it warms up- The Michelin man will be doing the inaugural ride instead of me.

I like the cold too. I figure, if it's cold you can always put on more clothes; but if it's hot, there is only so much you can take off!

Minus 10. Is that C or F?

One of my resentments is that I have to ask. My REAL resentment is that I tried to look them both up in the dictionary (remember those) to get the spelling right and I couldn't find either one. I really am turning into a retro grouch.

All this talk about cold weather and snow has send some of that bad weather our way this weekend. It's supposed to get into the 50's tomorrow before getting back to the mid 70's on Monday. Would you guys please keep your cold weather up there and not send it to us.

50s!!!! Are you kidding?! I would love it to only be in the 50s. After many days of it being nice, the first day, tomorrow, I'm going to get back on the bike after letting my hand heal, the temps are supposed to be in the lower 20s with wind chill (18mph+) of 11°F. Bah!

It was forecast snow here today in the foothills of the Rockies. But, I awoke to sunshine and from my position by the fire, looking out of the window, with a mug of coffee in my hand, it appeared to be quite warm. So, off for a ride I went.

The water in the hose of my Camelbak froze. :notamused:
